South Africa offers superb safari, fantastic value (with current exchange rates) and the unique opportunity to combine your safari with cosmopolitan Cape Town, the exquisite vineyards of the Cape and even whale watching in season. The Greater Kruger area is the big draw, with its superb private conservancies of Sabi Sands and the more down-to-earth Timbavati. Madikwe offers arguably the best malaria free safari in Africa, KwaZulu Natal is best for combining safari with beach, whilst the Eastern Cape Reserves are a fantastic bolt on to a Garden Route road trip.
Our recommendations will depend on your budget and whether you want to combine with Cape Town, The Garden Route or the beach. Everybody has their favourites, and we love camps which combine superb locations with proper safari atmosphere, good levels of comfort and sensible prices such as Nottens Bush Camp and Tanda Tula.
South Africa is particularly well suited to family safaris, with some excellent family friendly safari camps. We have developed a range of safaris specifically with families in mind >.
