Overview

If you are looking for an exclusive and luxurious family safari experience, then look no further than Chit Chitwa within the famous Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. All of the 6 luxurious suites over-look an immense watering hole with resident hippos and crocodiles. The vast decking area with its own private pool is enough of a draw on its own, what better place to lie back and relax between game drives?

The large suites have gorgeous bathrooms with views of the waterhole and an outdoor shower. Inside, there is a spacious seating area with a fire place for chilly winter evenings. Families with under 12's can all share one of the suites, or older families can go for the larger family suite which has inter-connecting en-suite rooms. At the main lodge, there is a larger infinity pool, as well as a gorgeous communal area.

The lodge is unfenced, which means that hippos are free to roam and frequently do. For this reason, guests are not free to walk between their rooms and lodges in the evenings, a rule that children must strictly adhere to.

Game drives are communal and whilst there are no guarantees about what you will and won't see, Sabi Sands is famous, in particular, for its leopard. The reserve is 65.000 hectare in total, although the lodge does not have traversing rights across the whole of the area.

There is no doubt that this is an incredibly exclusive option and whilst children are very welcome here, you should be aware that this is a popular lodge for honeymooners and couples as well as families. If your children are well behaved and not too raucous, then we have no doubt that you will love this lodge, If your children are more active and like to run around and let off a bit of steam in-between game drives, then you may wish to consider one of the larger lodges where you won't feel quite so self-conscious.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
