Overview

Ngala Safari Lodge is a traditional ‘&Beyond’ property located in the Timbavati Reserve on the western boundary of Kruger National Park. With beautiful scenery and great game opportunities this camp is a firm family favourite.

The communal bar, lounge and large decking areas all have stunning views of the bush and overlook a waterhole frequented by elephants and other wandering wildlife. A quaint walled courtyard and boma are perfect spots to enjoy outdoor dining and a swimming pool and front lawn are peaceful places for guests to kick back and relax.

The unfenced reserve is well known for its fantastic game viewing with a range of wildlife including the ‘Big Five’ as well as leopards and rare African dog. Morning and evening game drives are run by experienced rangers with the evening drives lasting until after dark to capture the nocturnal bush activity. Walking safaris are also led around the outskirts of the camp for those wanting to study the flora and fauna found closer to Ngala.

A slightly larger camp, the accommodation is made up of twenty thatched cottages all overlooking a private waterhole. Every room is air conditioned with private verandahs and elegantly furnished for a luxurious stay. There are a number of triple rooms available for families in addition to a two bedroom family suite. This exclusive family unit includes a private pool and exclusive use of a safari vehicle perfect for guests looking for a more private, family experience or those with younger children wanting to join game drives.

Children are welcome at Ngala Safari. There is a minimum age of 12 for game drives; however the guides have some discretion between the ages of 6-12 so well behaved younger guests should have no problem. The interactive WildChild programme run here and at all ‘&Beyond’ properties offers a wide range of activities for all ages including cooking, fishing and painting. Childminding services are also offered (at an extra cost) making this a very family friendly option.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
