Overview

The stylish and grand Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel is located in the Cape Town Foreshore, within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Town city centre. Impressively opulent reception areas greet guests on arrival, and this contemporary elegance is evident throughout the hotel. 394 well equipped rooms command spectacular views over Table Mountain, the waterfront, harbour and city. The hotel features an outdoor pool and terrace, an indoor heated pool, a fully-equipped gym and a spa. Superb meals are served in the restaurants and a resident sommelier is on hand to assist in pairing the best Cape wines with fine cuisine.

The accommodation comprises 208 standard rooms, 164 family rooms, 4 executive rooms and 18 suites. Standard rooms have a maximum capacity of 2 people and include queen sized beds, complimentary Wi-Fi, satellite TV, air conditioning and a minibar. For extra luxury, the Executive Rooms and Suites have king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms with separate bath and shower, and generally a bit more space. The Family Rooms accommodate a maximum of 4 people and wheelchair accessible rooms are available on request.

The Peach Tree restaurant offers a full daily breakfast menu, and buffet dinner comprising Cape Malay fusion dishes along with fresh meals served from the chef stations. Lunch is only served on Sundays, and High Tea is served during high season. The Stella Cafe and Bar serves delicious tapas and refreshing cocktails by the pool.

Activities on offer at the hotel include swimming in either of the two pools and making use of the comprehensive gym facilities. Capetown and the surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and excursions. The hotel is just steps away from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront Shopping Centre, the Artscape Theatre, and the Two Oceans Aquarium. Alternatively, guests can venture further to explore Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was once imprisoned, hike or take the cable car up Table Mountain, or spend a day at one of Cape Town’s many beaches; Boulder Bay is a great place for spotting wild penguins.

Children are more than welcome. The Family Rooms are big enough to comfortably accommodate up to four people and there are plenty of family-friendly activities in the surrounding area to keep children entertained. Parents should note that the outdoor pool is not fenced and that children must be supervised at all times.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
