Overview

Located on the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, is Abbey Manor Luxury Guest House. This charming and inviting guesthouse is very well located for anyone looking to explore the city and discover its many attractions. It can be found in the suburb of Oranjezicht, which is particularly peaceful and is one of the city’s more upmarket areas. Despite being over a hundred years old, the guesthouse offers all the modern conveniences to cater for today’s travellers. It’s handsomely furnished throughout and very tastefully decorated.

One of the most appealing aspects of the guesthouse is that it’s small and intimate. Only a limited number of guests can stay here at any one time, so there’s always a relaxed feel to the place. For those looking to book a stay, there are two types of room available: the Luxury Rooms and the larger Grand Rooms. All of the rooms here individually decorated and well equipped, offering convenient amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar, satellite TV and air conditioning. They can be arranged to have a double bed or two twin beds. The Luxury Rooms offer views of the city or the mountains, while the Grand Rooms have views of both the city and the mountains.

The nearby Table Mountain is one of the city’s most significant tourist attractions. The flat-topped mountain is home to a number of endemic flora and fauna. The plateau, which lies at 3,500 feet above sea level, can be reached by hiking or by taking the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. At the top, there are several walking trails, as well as viewpoints, a cafe and some shops. For those keen to explore the city itself, there’s a hop-on, hop-off bus tour (tickets can be purchased at the guest house reception); staff can also recommend things to do and point guests in the right direction. Close by is the V&A Waterfront, which is one of the city’s most popular areas. This buzzing district is home to loads of shops and eateries, with lots of leisure activities available, including a number of boat trips.

When not out exploring Cape Town, guests are free to make use of the guesthouse’s facilities. There’s a spacious rooftop terrace with spectacular city and mountain views, as well as a solar-heated swimming pool with sun loungers and a welcoming lounge complete with books and an honesty bar. All rates include breakfast; staff are happy to recommend local places to eat for lunch and dinner. Children under the age of five aren’t permitted to stay here. There are no babysitting services available.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
