Overview

Derwent House is a good value boutique hotel in the city bowl area of Cape Town. In the same upmarket suburb as Four Rosmead, this is a more reasonably priced alternative whilst still being in walking distance to a number of stylish restaurants and shops.

The hotel is modern and luxurious with a number of facilities for guests to enjoy. Indoor and outdoor lounges as well as a bar area are great places to spend your evenings whilst large decking areas and a solar heated pool and hot tub are relaxing day time activities. Massages, facials and hairdressing appointments can also be organised for those looking to be pampered.

The 10 rooms at Derwent House are split into ‘fabulous’ and the larger ‘beautiful’ rooms. The interior of both are the same; modern and stylish with African touches and charm. The ‘beautiful’ rooms have private terraces with first floor views and are more spacious than the downstairs ‘fabulous’ rooms. A family suite is also available that includes an open plan kitchen/dining/living area and double sofa bed perfect for families of up to four. In addition to the guesthouse rooms, a self- catered apartment that is in a separate building to the back of the guesthouse is also available. Guests here are able to use all the facilities at the guesthouse whilst enjoying the added independence and privacy of the apartment.

More family friendly than most guesthouses in this area, Derwent House welcomes children of all ages. The self- catered apartment works well for a family of four as well as the family suite in the hotel being an alternative option.

Derwent House is a good mid-range option in a great area.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
