Overview

Camps Bay Retreat is a historic, luxury boutique hotel set in a private nature reserve just a 5 minute walk from the beach. Located in the Camps Bay area of Cape Town on the Western Cape, the hotel is set behind Table Mountain and has great ocean and mountain views. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a more secluded area suited to those looking for some peace and quiet. With a wealth of things to explore and stunning walks to embark on, families and couples alike will enjoy this high end hotel.

The main building is the impressive Earl’s Dyke Manor House. The original part of the hotel, it is steeped in colonial character and has a beautiful entrance hall leading to a lounge, library, formal dining room, a terrace for summer dining and plenty of impressive fireplaces for the cooler months. As well as 4 acres of rolling gardens there are also a large number of facilities available; three pools including a mountain pool in the gardens, spa, tennis court along with the use of a gym, squash club and private beach you certainly won’t run out of things to do!

Accommodation is spread across the first floor of Earl’s Dyke Manor and recently the more modern ‘Deck House’ and ‘The Villa’. The new additions understandably lack the authentic character of the manor but are in beautiful surroundings with private balconies to enjoy the views. All the en-suite rooms are individually furnished and spacious with some featuring free standing baths. Premier, luxury and superior rooms are available as well as suites that are particularly beneficial to large families.

Children are welcome at the hotel and there are rooms available for families of three in addition to a three bedroom suite housing up to seven people. Special consideration is made at meal times and with plenty of activities and places to explore this is a perfect base for families. It is worth noting the residence has three beloved dogs which may be a consideration for those with any allergies or pet free preferences.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
