Diamonds is a large hotel set along the northwestern coast of Zanzibar that provides a less private large resort-style experience than other resorts along the coast, but has plenty of activities and facilities to keep a group busy.
Guest accommodation consists of: 93 deluxe sea-view rooms with private terraces and garden access; 16 sea-view suites with separate living rooms and kitchenettes; 23 villa club rooms with butler service, and one family suite with a living room, kitchenette, and two bedrooms, and; five bedrooms in the Presidential Villa, which features a large communal living area, a small office, and a large sea-view terrace. Most rooms have King-size or European twin beds and large en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The thatched roofs add to the resort’s beach aesthetic that brings guests closer to the ocean and its inhabitants.
Facilities include a large lagoon style saltwater pool with a children’s area, superb water sports and diving centre, table tennis, beach volleyball and a Mvua African rain spa. Drinking and dining options are spread across the resort and along the wharf stretching out into the Ocean. Restaurant options include Coral Cove Pizzeria, Sea Breeze à la Carte, and Beach Grill. Some are situated outside for an authentic alfresco eating experience. Diamonds offers great ways to explore the ocean and the Zanzibar ocean culture.
If guests find time to get away from the plethora of facilities at the resort, there are plenty of things to explore around Zanzibar. Excursions to Stone Town, spice tours, and safaris to Tanzania are great for families and couples looking for a cultural as well as a relaxing experience. Children of all ages are welcome, and the resort does offer childcare, but this incurs a fee.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
