Overview

Located in the High Atlas Mountains Hotel Le Village Toubkal sits just above the Berber market town of Imlil. It’s the perfect base if you plan to take day walks or day trips in the local area but is equally suited as a spot for a few days of doing nothing, reading on the roof terrace and just taking in the fresh mountain air.

There are nine rooms in total; all are comfortable and well designed. The suite rooms are our favourites; these are all spacious, rustically stylish and all of the premium suites also have balconies. Le Village is good value for money so it’s definitely worth booking one of the suites for the extra space and the views.

Le Village also has a basic spa which offers different types of massage and of course the traditional, skin exfoliating Hammam. Prices for these services are about on par with British spas, but if you book a massage you get a Hammam included for free.

Meals are served on the roof terrace (which has views over the Imlil valley) or in the cosy sitting room, which as well as comfy sofas has an open fire.

There is no vehicle access to Le Village, instead you will be dropped off and met by a mule and member of staff who’ll walk you to the hotel (around a 15-20 min walk). Please note that access to Le Village is via a steep uneven and often slippery path, please wear suitable footwear when you arrive. Le Village du Toubkal Hotel and Spa is not suitable for anyone with stability or balance issues.

Le Village doesn't serve alcohol although you are welcome to bring your own.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
