Maytaq Wasin is a charming and unpretentious boutique hotel conveniently located in central Cusco, just 100 metres from the city’s main historic square. The hotel is an ideal, comfortable base for anyone keen to discover this beautiful city's vast collection of cultural sights and attractions.
The hotel’s 24 rooms are generally well presented, with plenty of modern conveniences. All rooms come with an en-suite bathroom with shower, and some have a separate bathtub as well. There’s a flat-screen TV with cable channels, along with a hairdryer, desk and fan. Rooms offer a good amount of space and are available as twins or doubles.
Although the hotel is located in the city’s historic area, it has a decidedly contemporary character and is bright and airy throughout. Guests can enjoy pretty views of the surrounding area and nearby buildings from the shaded terrace, which is a lovely spot for relaxing at the end of a busy day. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served, with additional meals available at an extra cost. The hotel’s restaurant serves an array of locally inspired dishes, using only freshly prepared ingredients procured from close by.
There's plenty to do in the immediate vicinity and across Cusco. The nearby Plaza de Armas is the beating heart of the city, a lively square steeped in history, with numerous cafes, restaurants and communal seating areas. Wander through the city’s zigzagging streets to discover quirky eateries offering local delicacies and thriving markets selling all sorts of wares. There’s also an impressive collection of well preserved churches, cathedrals and other buildings of cultural importance, with many museums that reveal the city’s rich history.
Although there are no designated facilities for children at the hotel, families are more than welcome and there's plenty of entertainment for all age groups in and around Cusco.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
