Overview

Set on a picturesque island in a gorgeous tropical lagoon is Olhuveli Beach & Spa, a luxury, all-inclusive island resort. It’s one of several resorts by the high-end Su Siyam brand, whose properties are scattered throughout the Maldives and the east coast of Sri Lanka. This large but picture-perfect resort provides an idyllic environment in which to kick back and enjoy a slower, more relaxed pace of life.

There are 164 spacious villas spread across the island, with nine different levels of accommodation ranging from stylish beachside villas to deluxe water villas with their own private jacuzzi. Common to all accommodation types are convenient amenities such as a private terrace, complimentary bottled water that’s replenished daily, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, sun loungers and complimentary toiletries. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious and come with a rain shower and twin vanity units.

There’s a broad range of activities and events to suit all tastes. For those wanting simply to relax, there’s the Sun Spa with its hydrotherapy pools, jacuzzi, steam room and varied treatment menu. There’s also a lovely infinity pool, as well as the beach of course. For those looking to keep active, there are plenty of diving opportunities for both beginners and more experienced divers, along with lots of other water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing and water skiing, to name a few. Excursions to nearby islands and the Maldives’ capital, Male, are also available.

Dining options at the resort are more than plentiful, with five restaurants and three bars to choose from. If that’s not enough, guests can also opt for in-villa dining or even destination dining, where they get to choose a location on the island where they can enjoy a private meal together. The Sunset Restaurant is one of the largest overwater restaurants in the Maldives and is open for three meals a day, serving a wide range of cuisine with themed nights and live cooking stations. Mediterranean dishes are served at the beachside Lagoon Restaurant, Asian specialties are on the menu at The Four Spices, and freshly prepared seafood is available at The Plankton Grill.

Olhuveli is very child-friendly and has lots on offer to keep youngsters entertained during their stay. All of the resort’s villas can accommodate up to two children under the age of 12, with cribs, high chairs and other such facilities available on request. There’s a babysitting service, as well as a special children’s menu at the Sunset Restaurant. There’s also pool just for children and a kids club offering an array of age-appropriate games and activities. Parents are reminded to be sure to keep their children under adult supervision all the time.

  • Thank you yet again for another meticulously organised and executed holiday (our 5th with you). Every aspect worked perfectly.
Please could you pass on our sincere thanks to your agent in Sri Lanka; Lakshita, our driver and guide, absolutely made the trip for us - he was so keen for us to have the best experience possible. He was organised, kind, interested, punctual, the car was always spotless, and he was an excellent driver. His extensive knowledge was really appreciated by us and was exactly what we had hoped for in a guide. I think the highlight for us was our day in Anuradhapura (7 hours of absorbing history and culture), but there was so much to learn and absorb every day. He also made several suggestions for things that he thought we might like that weren't in our itinerary, and then booked them for us. These included an ayurvedic massage after climbing Sigiriya, a cultural show (an hour of touristy fun!), reef snorkelling with turtles (a real highlight for me - I wish we could have stayed all day), a lagoon boat trip and visit to a cinnamon island, a turtle sanctuary visit, and a gemstone factory visit. He also managed to get us a private tour of Lunanguga, which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. We also really enjoyed the tea factory tour.
Our guide for the hike was also really excellent, and he and Lakshita made sure that our day was perfectly tailored to our (my) ability.
All our accommodation was also perfectly selected. Our favourite was the Ceylon tea trails bungalow (just perfect!), but The Villa Bentota came a close second as a perfect way to relax at the end of the trip. Our villa and the grounds at Uga at Ulagalla were also beautiful.
(Our only slightly disappointing day was the whale watching - no whales wanted to be seen on that particular day, plus I was very sea-sick despite taking meds! The tour organisers offered us a repeat day the following day, which we declined! Having said that, being out on the water was still enjoyable, up to a point...).
I'm sure I've missed out something - we basically loved it all and felt that the balance of the itinerary was perfect for us (we used the 'rest' day in Galle to do the snorkelling, lagoon, and turtles)
    Thank you very, very much.

  • We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
