Situated on a stunning private estate just seven miles southeast of central Marrakech, Royal Palm Marrakech is a large and inviting luxury hotel with extensive facilities, pretty lawns dotted with olive trees, and spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains. With 135 suites and villas set over three floors, a large heated swimming pool, a spa, a golf course and a fitness centre, there’s plenty to do both on site at the hotel, and in the wider surrounding area. Although the service might be somewhat patchy at times, this is one of Marrakech’s best and consequently most expensive properties, and it’s certainly worth pushing the boat out if you can.
The hotel’s spacious communal areas are decorated in a traditional Moroccan style with a sleek, modern finish, and comprise a sumptuous bar and cigar lounge, and three restaurants. Breakfast is served in Le Caravane brasserie, dinner in the elegant Al Ain restaurant, and light lunches are available at L'Olivier, set beside the pool in the gardens. The 25 metre heated pool is a delight, and there’s an extensive Sports Centre featuring tennis, racquet ball, and squash courts, various fitness and cardio rooms, and a pilates studio. For any guest wishing to venture into Marrakech, the hotel provides a day-time shuttle bus to both the old and new towns, although note that advance booking is required and private transport should be arranged in the evenings.
There are a total of 135 suites and villas set over three floors, all featuring ensuite bathrooms and a spacious terrace or balcony with views over the gardens and mountains beyond. There’s an enormous range of room types to choose from, from standard Deluxe rooms, to Junior and Senior Suites, a Penthouse Suite, and a super luxurious Presidential Suite complete with a kitchenette, and a large open plan lounge and dining area which houses a fireplace and leads out onto a terrace with al fresco dining facilities for six. This suite boasts two huge bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom and solarium, and one with an outdoor jacuzzi. Laundry services and Wi-Fi are available throughout.
Children are welcome, and families have plenty of accommodation options to choose from. The designated Family Suite features two separate ensuite bedrooms with a shared balcony. There’s also a Luxury Family Suite made up of interconnecting Junior and Senior suites, complete with a shared lounge area. Last but not least, the Prince Villas are two-bedroom family apartments featuring their own private walled garden complete with pool, a Turkish bath (hammam), BBQ facilities, and outdoor dining area. Babysitters can be arranged through the hotel with 24 hours’ notice, and there’s a Kid’s Club for children up to 12 years of age, although note that children under the age of 3 must be accompanied by a parent or babysitter.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!
Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.
Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!
All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.
Thanks you once again!
