EnquireChobe Elephant Camp is located high on the edge of a rocky ridge overlooking the famous Chobe River in Chobe National Park, northern Botswana. This uniquely designed lodge has been built to take advantage of the incredible views whilst also being a new ‘eco-style’ camp.
The main areas are open plan and spacious and include a cosy lounge area, bar, dining area and reading corner. Outside, there is a small swimming pool, outdoor boma and a great viewing deck over a private waterhole.
12 ensuite rooms are designed using recyclable materials and Kalahari sand to be as friendly to the environment as possible. To preserve the atmosphere of a traditional farmstead, the rooms are full of exposed beams, weathered furniture and polished floors. All rooms are ensuite with both indoor and outdoor showers and a private verandah to take advantage of the stunning views.
Activities are centred around game drives as the wildlife in this area really is excellent; large herds of elephant, giraffe and zebra as well as lions and leopards. You can also organise boat trips, nature walks and trips to local villages. A full day trip to Victoria Falls can also be requested upon booking
Chobe Elephant camp is a lovely mid-range camp with a rustic, natural feel. An authentic stay away from large, commercial ventures this is a reliably good choice.
For families, Chobe Elephant Camp has a low minimum age of 2, a small swimming pool and a 2 bedroom family chalet (both bedrooms with en-suite and situated either side of a lounge area). There is no specific family program but the Camp welcomes children and looks after them well and would certainly suit more adventurous families on a more limited budget. Like so many camps in Botswana, Chobe Elephant Camp is not fenced and dangerous wildlife can wander through Camp. For this reason parents must keep children under close supervision and we do not feel it is suitable for those with much younger or less controllable kids.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
