This quaint Guesthouse is based by the Old Harbour in Hermanus, a town in the famous whale watching area on the coast of the Western Cape. With mountain as well as sea views, the landscape is stunning; although the town is quieter during the winter months as whale watching is the main attraction of the area.

Simple but high quality accommodation, it is the location of this guesthouse that makes it one of our choices in Hermanus. A short walk away from busy shops and restaurants, it is also on the coastal path that is a beautiful walk and a great vantage point for shore whale watching.

The hotel is well presented in a colonial style and has impressive communal areas including a well sized rooftop pool, looked on to by some of the rooms. Landscaped gardens around the rooms are pleasant places to sit as is the Burgundy restaurant that serves breakfast daily. Secure parking is also available for those travelling by car.

The accommodation is made up of 14 rooms and 4 suites. All the rooms are luxurious and sophisticated with varying views of the mountains, gardens and pools. The suites are particularly nice with spacious rooms connecting to comfortable lounge areas and balconies with great sea views.

As adult accommodation, the guesthouse only accepts children over 12 and only at a discounted rate during the winter months.

This is a really pretty guesthouse that is run professionally with friendly service. Only a walk away from the waterfront and a number of restaurants and shops this is well situated for an enjoyable stay in Hermanus.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
