Overview

Jaci's Safari Lodge is a fantastic small safari camp in malaria-free Madikwe that successfully treads the fine line between luxury and an authentic safari feel. The separate Nare and Safari Suites offer one of the finest exclusive family safari experiences in South Africa.

Jaci's has a relaxed communal area and pool overlooking a watering hole, and the eight tented suites are decorated in vibrant colours and African textures. Each suite has a large mosaic bath (big enough for two to share), a private outdoor shower and a suspended game viewing deck. With thatched roofs, low stone walls and canvas panels that roll up, the lodge's eight spacious tented suites let the outside in, making for an exclusive African safari experience. The suites are equipped with underfloor heating, air conditioning and a ceiling fan. For families looking for a more exclusive experience, Jaci's Lodge's jaw-dropping Nare Suite or Safari Suite sleep families of six or eight and feature a private plunge pool and deck; a wonderful shared space for families on safari together.

Four to five hours north east of Johannesburg, Madikwe is a fantastic option for families looking for a low-risk malaria safari holiday. The 75,000 hectare game reserve is rich in wildlife offering the big five and a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the elusive wild dogs. Jaci's Lodge offers two game drives a day in open safari vehicles, morning drives usually include a stop for hot chocolate, coffee or tea and home-baked rusks, and afternoon drives include a stop for sundowners and snacks while taking in an unforgettable African sunset.

Jaci's Lodge is an excellent option for families. The standard suites can take up to two extra children, albeit with comfortable camp beds that are put up for the children each day, whilst the Nare Suite and Safari Suite offer one of the finest exclusive safari experiences in South Africa. Children over five can join game drives, while families with under fives will have to stay in the Nare or Safari Suite, which include private game drives for any age.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
