Overview

Villa Vista is a stylish and modern family-run guest house situated in a quiet Windhoek neighbourhood, with the Central Business District and main town facilities just a short kilometre’s drive or walk away.

The main areas comprise a reception, lounge, and dining space with an attractive, contemporary feel. Villa Vista’s name derives from the lovely covered roof-terrace which boasts great views across the city and out towards the Khomas Hochland mountains. These views are best enjoyed at sunset with a drink from the honesty bar, or as an al fresco setting for a continental or home-cooked breakfast. There’s a lovely central courtyard with a pool, although note that it’s unheated and might be a little chilly for winter use. The Villa houses its own Cross Fit gym, offering activities such as aerobics, weight lifting, and gymnastics, at additional cost. A sauna is available free of charge to all guests, along with secure covered parking for peace of mind.

Thirteen double bedrooms surround the pool over two stories. Rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the pool via a private patio, while those above are quieter and have balconies overlooking the courtyard with superior views facing out across Windhoek. There is no lift or stair rail, so it’s best for any guest with limited mobility to request a ground floor room. All bedrooms are spacious, with ensuite bathrooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning and a good range of facilities.

Windhoek is home to the main international airport in Namibia, so it’s primarily visited as a short stop-over at the beginning or end of a self-drive trip. The Villa's attentive staff and great location close to the town’s amenities ensure a good night's rest if guests are simply passing through. If staying longer, guests can easily explore the capital from this tranquil and well located base. Cultural options include a visit to the National and Independence Museums on Robert Mugabe Avenue, and unique curio shopping at the Namibia Crafts Centre and Post Street Mall. Staff are happy to recommend and book restaurants and taxi services, and the famous Joe's Beerhouse, with its quirky and enjoyable dining experience, is only a 15-minute walk away.

While Villa Vista welcomes children of all ages, there are no cots, high chairs, or babysitting facilities. However, families travelling with slightly older children will be comfortable in the large two bed and two bath family rooms. Parental supervision is essential at all times, as the pool is unfenced and some of the higher walkways in the hotel do not have railings.

Although the ultra-modern and minimalist décor make for a somewhat corporate feel, the warm and friendly service and excellent value for money make Villa Vista an excellent option for any traveller seeking comfort and style in a convenient location.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
