House on the Beach is a family owned beachfront home situated on Tiwi Beach, in southern Kenya. One hour’s drive from Mombasa airport, this generously proportioned house is set amidst mature tropical gardens which shelve gently down to the Indian Ocean. The house has direct access to the white sands and clear warm waters of tranquil Tiwi Beach, just 50 metres away. In contrast with neighbouring beaches, Tiwi is seldom busy. Swimming and snorkelling are the main activities, and at low tide guests can explore the exposed reef flats, which attract a variety of bird and marine life.

The house is constructed in a rustic, traditional style with a palm thatched roof, tiled floors and high ceilings. There is an airy lounge with comfortable seating, and a spacious, covered outdoor terrace with sofas, a hammock, and ocean views. The house has four generous double bedrooms, all with traditional wooden furnishings and lovely views. Downstairs are two double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom and shower. On the first floor, accessed by a wrought iron spiral staircase, are a further two double rooms, both with ensuite bathroom and shower. There’s also a small ensuite cottage in the grounds, which sleeps two.

A focal point of the property is its impressive swimming pool which has a waterslide built into the rock. Another stunning feature within the grounds is a shady coral cave, with its ceiling open to the sky. Here guests can enjoy atmospheric candlelit dinners beneath the stars.

A walk or short drive away is Diani Beach, where an array of activities can be enjoyed including diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, boat trips, and fishing.

House on the Beach is a great option for a large group of family or friends looking for a comfortable, private and relaxing base from which to enjoy the pristine beaches of southern Kenya.

  • Hi Lisa
It was a fantastic experience, thanks very much. All the arrangements were seamless and our guiding/support team were excellent, if there is a way for you to formally commend the team to your ground operators then I would be grateful if you could do that, they really were brilliant.
Many thanks for your help in arranging the trip, and for your patience during the multiple re-arrangements over the past couple of years.
    Kind regards, John

  • We had the most incredible time thank you. We loved Karen Blixen camp and felt part of a family there, it was incredibly special. And Breezes was very relaxing.
We can't fault all the transfers and the moment we were greeted on the tarmac at Nairobi airport we knew we were going to be well cared for.

Thank you so much to you and all the Tourdust team for making it such a happy and memorable trip.

  • We had an amazing trip. Everything was well thought out and so much fun. What a great way to truly see the country and learn the culture.

Joseph was the perfect guide. Very kind, professional, knowledgeable and patient. The kids loved Joseph and keep asking when will they meet him again. He found the Big 5 for us which was unforgettable! Please pass along our appreciation to Joseph.

Maji Moto was also another incredible experience. They had great customer service and we loved experiencing their culture.

Sunbird was absolutely beautiful and I wish we had more time there. We loved the view of the lake!

One suggestion to make the trip even better for other guests in the future would be to have a cooler with drinks and snacks in the Jeep at all times because a ton of driving is involved and it would be helpful to have a cold drink and snacks during the long trip.

Thanks again for organizing this experience of a lifetime for us!
