Msambweni Beach House is an upmarket, boutique hotel located in the Msambweni area of south eastern Kenya. One hour’s drive from Ukunda airport, the property enjoys a clifftop setting above a secluded, white sand beach.

Set in extensive grounds, the main house features airy, high ceilings, white walls and stylish wooden and marble furnishings. Communal areas include a dining room, bar area, library, spa, and outdoor gym. Outside is an impressive infinity pool with superb views, and a fire pit with seating where guests can enjoy sundowners overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Mealtimes are extremely flexible, with European and traditional Swahili cuisine on offer. Guests can opt to dine at individual tables in the dining room, by the pool, or even on the beach.

Activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, kite surfing, kayaking, cycling and golf. Excursions include safari to Shimba Hills National Park, famed for its elephants, plus boat trips, and community visits. Massages and spa treatments are available on site.

A variety of accommodation is offered. The main house contains three spacious, air-conditioned double rooms, with private verandas and sea views. Each has an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower. Adjacent to the main house is the rustic Ocean Suite, a spacious tented room, which sleeps two. Accommodation comprises a large living area with a double bed, overhead fan, and a bathroom with twin washbasins and walk-in shower. A private terrace offers lovely sea views.

In addition, there are three private villas, each with their own swimming pool plus a terrace with sea views. Two units each offer two double bedrooms, whilst the third villa sleeps up to six guests in three double bedrooms. All rooms have either air conditioning or overhead fans.

Families with children age 12 years and over are most welcome at the villas, whilst the main house accommodates guests age 16 years and over. A babysitting service can be arranged.

Msambweni Beach House blends tranquillity and privacy with attentive service in a pristine ocean setting. It is a great option for travellers looking to experience the numerous activities and stunning coastline of southeast Kenya.

  • We had the most incredible time thank you. We loved Karen Blixen camp and felt part of a family there, it was incredibly special. And Breezes was very relaxing.
We can't fault all the transfers and the moment we were greeted on the tarmac at Nairobi airport we knew we were going to be well cared for.

Thank you so much to you and all the Tourdust team for making it such a happy and memorable trip.

  • We had an amazing trip. Everything was well thought out and so much fun. What a great way to truly see the country and learn the culture.

Joseph was the perfect guide. Very kind, professional, knowledgeable and patient. The kids loved Joseph and keep asking when will they meet him again. He found the Big 5 for us which was unforgettable! Please pass along our appreciation to Joseph.

Maji Moto was also another incredible experience. They had great customer service and we loved experiencing their culture.

Sunbird was absolutely beautiful and I wish we had more time there. We loved the view of the lake!

One suggestion to make the trip even better for other guests in the future would be to have a cooler with drinks and snacks in the Jeep at all times because a ton of driving is involved and it would be helpful to have a cold drink and snacks during the long trip.

Thanks again for organizing this experience of a lifetime for us!

  • I had just the most incredible time on the climb.

The team were incredible and just so accommodating. I really only have good things to say as it was such a great experience.

George was as good as a guide as it gets, very articulate and made sure I was comfortable the whole way up with frequent briefings.
