EnquireDesigned in honour of Okonjima’s cattle-farming history, and situated in Okinjima Game Reserve in Namibia, this luxury bush camp offers guests a great base from which to spot some of the best game in the region. Sightings of wild dog and spotted hyena are common, along with the chance to see rare species such as rhino and pangolin; if very lucky, the elusive leopard might even reveal itself.
Guest accommodation consists of a variety of abodes serving different purposes. There are 8 thatched African-style chalets, with semi-detached, open lounges or ‘salas’. Each chalet is isolated, ensuring privacy, and features two queen-sized beds, and comfortable leather chairs. The luxurious honeymoon junior-suite provides stunning views of the surrounding plains and comprises an en-suite lounge with fireplace, a bathtub, and a wheelchair-friendly outdoor ‘Bush’ shower. There’s also a birdbath outside each chalet to attract birds right up to the chalet front doors.
Communal facilities are found in the Lapa, a main structure which takes the form of an indigenous camelthorn pod. It includes a kitchen and dining area, separate lounges with fireplaces, outdoor fireplaces, and a private swimming pool overlooking the grassy plains.
There are a number of activities on offer in Okonjima Nature Reserve. Today’s visitors are privileged to play their part in a long-term project relating to the sustainability of the local leopard populations by collecting and collating data with their professional guides. While AfriCat’s Cheetah Rehabilitation Project has ceased due to the density of rival species threatening the success of the initiative, a highly informative visit to the AfriCat Carnivore Care and Information Centre where old or vulnerable carnivores are looked after in captivity is strongly recommended – it’s a genuine pleasure to enjoy AfriCat’s educational afternoon trail, followed by a relaxing sundowner complete with wildlife spotting opportunities. The reserve also offers interactive, off-the-beaten-track nature trails which cleverly combine game drives with short guided walks, along with the chance to seek out some of the 250 bird species in the region.
Families with children over the age of 12 are welcome at the Luxury Bush Camp. Although there are no child-care services, and opportunities for children to participate in activities are limited, facilities are family-friendly with a pool, lovely gardens and comfortable surroundings to enjoy. The guided nature trails, which combine short walks with game drives, make for a popular family choice.
It was FANTASTIC! Beautifully organised, everything worked like clockwork. We agreed that we had the best support team ever (and we have experience) - all delightful, very professional and nothing was too much bother.
It clearly couldn't have been a better route, such a wonderful mix of landscapes. And plenty of acclimatisation time. Nonetheless, I was glad of my summit oxygen.
Kit excellent. Double good mattresses made for most comfortable trek camping ever. Tents v good. Mess tent pretty windproof, which was vital for enjoyment. Best camp loo ever!
My favourite day was Shira Cathedral. Amazing.

Hi Lisa,
The safari trip was excellent! The stay, the food and the people were all very nice. We were happy to have Ryan and Stanley as our game drive guides they brought us up close to the animals and Ryan gave very good information throughout.
Would definitely recommend to friends who are interested in safaris :)
Also, thanks much for your help, particularly keeping the room for my Brother and his wife they’ve enjoyed the safari very much too!
Best regards,

We had a fantastic time and all the arrangements worked perfectly.
We were very impressed with the quality and service levels of all 4 locations visited and it was truly a holiday of a lifetime.
Thank you to you and to Lisa for giving us this experience.
Particular highlights for us – really the whole experience, but of particular impact:
Breathtaking scenery at Cathedral Peak Hotel
Rhino Ridge game drives incredible, thanks to guide (we had their head guide, Hala, who’s knowledge, enthusiasm, kindness, interaction, ability to spot wildlife was out of this world)
Luxury of Rhino Ridge (shower, food, views, service)
Immersion in nature, torch lit meal on last night and beach trip at Kosi Forest Lodge
Level of service, quality of food throughout
