Constance Prince Maurice is a luxury resort tucked away in a peaceful, intimate setting along the east coast of Mauritius. It lies at the tip of a relatively undeveloped peninsula and is ideal for those looking for somewhere away from the busier, touristy areas of the island. While the resort is somewhat off the beaten path, it has an impressive line-up of activities and experiences to keep guests occupied and entertained. Created by renowned designers Jean Marc Eynaud and David Edwards who focused on incorporating Feng Shui practices into the resort’s design, the property successfully combines pleasing aesthetic design with practicality and is one of eight properties in the high-end Constance hotel portfolio.
There are plenty of accommodation options available including sixty-four Junior Suites, a dozen Family Suites, a dozen Villas and the largest of all, the Princely Villa. Some rooms have views of the resort’s well-presented gardens, while others look out onto the ocean and some even have direct beach access. There’s also a series of suites located on stilts above the water offering a unique water-based accommodation experience. All accommodation is air conditioned and bathrooms come with a separate bathtub and shower, along with double vanity units.
There’s a great deal to do at the resort. There are two floodlit tennis courts, a practice putting range and two pools for guests to make use of. Many water-based activities such as windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing and snorkelling are also available. The resort is right beside a number of top dive sites; as such, diving is particularly popular here, with the Blues Diving programme offering regular sessions for experienced divers, along with lessons for beginners. For those looking to unwind completely, there’s a range of pampering treatments on offer at U Spa by Constance, where the focus is very much on improving your wellbeing. There’s also a well-stocked library that functions as a cosy retreat.
The resort is very family friendly and welcomes children of all ages. The Family Suites are recommended for those travelling with younger ones and the Constance Kids Club will keep children aged four to eleven well entertained. There’s also a paid babysitting service.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
