Overview

Beachcomber Royal Palm is a sophisticated and luxurious resort located in the northwest of Mauritius. The property has a prestigious feel and overlooks a lovely sheltered bay with a pure white sand beach. The resort is a member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World’ portfolio, and the service and facilities are top notch. There’s a wine cellar and sports centre complete with hammam, plus a wide range of land and water-based sports, including tennis with professional coaches, to choose from.

There are no fewer than ten different room categories to choose from and this property stands out because the accommodation is comprised entirely of suites. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the decor is stylish with attractive wooden furnishings throughout. All rooms are air conditioned and have their own terrace or balcony, with views of the resort’s well landscaped gardens and/or the Indian Ocean. Amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The bathroom is en-suite and comes with a separate shower, bathtub and toilets; twin vanities are provided.

The on-site activities are many and varied – there’s a well-equipped sports centre located in the beautiful, lush gardens offering a range of classes such as pilates which are overseen by professional trainers. There are three tennis courts and a squash court, a darts board and a bocciball court. For those looking to get out on the water, there are all sorts of things to do from stand-up paddle boarding and snorkelling to glass-bottom boat excursions and kayaking. It’s also possible to visit the nearby Photography Museum of Mauritius, the ‘Aventure du Sucre’ museum and the and the wonderful, historic Pamplemousse gardens.

There are three restaurants overseen by an award-winning chef which serve a range of dishes from around the world, along with plenty of local specialties. Meals are tastefully presented, with all food freshly prepared using locally-sourced ingredients. The restaurants are all situated right on the coast with pleasant ocean views to enjoy.

The resort is very family friendly indeed. Almost all the accommodation options work well for families and there’s a very good kids club offering plenty of activities and experiences. The Ti Royal Kids Club is intended for children aged three to eleven and it aims to provide children with some educational experiences, and most importantly a great deal of fun!

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
