Overview

The desert city of Las Vegas is America’s gambling capital and a tourist hotspot known for its extensive collection of huge, elaborately-themed casino resorts, many of which are among the largest and most luxurious in the world. The Venetian is one of the most iconic examples of such a property and boasts a mind-blowing variety of facilities and attractions right in the heart of the city. The impressive, large-scale design is inspired by the beautiful Italian city of Venice and includes life-size replicas of many of the city’s top attractions.

The Venetian is actually part of a combined hotel complex and, along with its counterpart The Palazzo, they form the world’s second largest hotel. For accommodation, there are no fewer than 4,049 suites in the main 36-storey tower. Each suite comes with a separate living area and bedroom, along with an en-suite bathroom fashioned from Italian marble. Suites are very well appointed, lavishly decorated and handsomely furnished throughout. There are plenty of in-room amenities to make use of and some of the rooms are almost twice the size of other Vegas hotel rooms. The Venetian is centrally located along the strip and thus the suites afford stunning views of some of the city’s many other casino resorts including Treasure Island, The Palazzo, The Mirage and Harrah’s.

A casino resort on a massive scale, The Venetian offers a wealth of on-site facilities and attractions to suit just about everybody. There are four theatres staging a wide range of shows from big-name stars and entertainment acts throughout the year, as well as several bars and the Asian-themed Tao Nightclub. There are nearly three dozen eateries ranging from a British gastropub and a traditional Italian pizzeria, to a high-end steakhouse and a casual seafood restaurant. The Grand Canal Shoppes is the hotel’s own premier shopping destination, with more than 160 stores from many top brands. Perhaps the resort’s most unique attraction is the Gondola Rides. This experience offers the chance to ride in an authentic gondola steered by a professional gondolier along the ‘Grand Canal’ past the hotel’s many shops, restaurants and attractions.

There’s also Madame Tussauds, featuring lifelike waxworks of popular celebrities and well-known historical characters, and the minus5º Ice Experience, a year-round winter wonderland carved out of ice. Of course, the Venetian has its own casino, which is one of the largest and most extravagant in Las Vegas. It offers a rewarding loyalty programme, complimentary lessons for beginners and an extensive collection of slot machines and gaming tables. For relaxation, there are several swimming pools, as well as the Canyon Ranch Spa + Fitness centre. Encompassing some 134,000 square feet, it’s one of the largest day spas in the world and offers over 150 services.

Children are welcome and connecting suites can be requested, along with cribs and additional rollaway beds, although note these are subject to availability. Although there is no on-site childcare, the hotel can provide a list of independent childcare companies in the city.

  • I was also just about to email you to thank you and the team for arranging yet again, another wonderful experience.

Mount Kenya was spectacular and wild - I think I prefer it to Kili in many ways. The entire support team was professional, friendly and all round fantastic in making sure that we were safe, well fed and well looked after. In particular, we would commend Peter the guide as well as Paul one of the porters who doubled-up as his deputy on summit day. Our route was often shrouded in mist and rain that rapidly gathered in the valleys and moorlands, and we were very impressed at how Peter managed to navigate us safely through all of that notwithstanding. In addition, we loved learning about the history of Mount Kenya from him in the evenings. And ofcourse, I was blown away by the lovely birthday surprise at the end complete with balloons and a delicious cake that had journeyed with us from day 1. One thing we might recommend because of the sudden change in weather (it would sometimes get extremely cold and wet) is for the equipment list to be a little bit more detailed in terms of its recommendations e.g. layers to be moisture-wicking, walking boots be waterproof, doubling up on socks to avoid blisters etc.

El Karama is a beautiful conservancy and the lodge a true labour of love. Great hospitality in a relaxed environment. Delicious, fresh food. We enjoyed the drives, even if we didn't see much wildlife as the heavens opened on us for the last two outings. However, since it was very much geared towards families, I am not sure if I would stay again without kids. That said, I think it was perfect for a 3d/2n stay post mountain, and a much better choice than flying to the masai mara given the limited time we had.

Our transits were smooth. Samuel the driver was always on time, drove safely and kept the vehicle clean.

So it was a brilliant experience and one which I certainly will cherish for some time to come. It was great to work with you for a third time, and I certainly hope it won't be the last

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”
