Overview

Les Villas D’Or is a small self-catering resort located on the beautiful Cote D’Or on Praslin Island in the Seychelles. Set beside a peaceful stretch of white sand beach fringed by the Indian Ocean, this relaxed, family-run establishment offers self-catering accommodation for just 24 guests in ten spacious villas, along with a pleasant swimming pool, all nestled within lovely tropical gardens. Handily located a short walk from local restaurants and amenities, this friendly and intimate resort is a good mid-range option for travellers seeking flexible self-catering accommodation and a super beachfront location.

The extensive, carefully-tended gardens house a refreshing swimming pool and loungers, ideal for cooling off. The adjacent beach offers fantastic swimming in calm turquoise waters, with activities including diving, canoeing, and snorkelling available nearby. The resort is self-catering, however there is the option of booking a continental breakfast, served daily in guest villas. Local shops, mini-markets, and restaurants are a ten-minute walk away, and the hosts will readily organise return transfers to a number of local restaurants. Bicycle hire is also available at the resort, a fun way to explore the local area.

Accommodation comprises ten one and two-bedroom colonial-style villas, spaced out within the verdant grounds and just metres from the beach. Each light and airy villa features a main living space with an open plan design, including kitchen, dining, and lounge areas. The kitchen comes equipped with a fridge freezer, hob, microwave, toaster, and kettle, plus ample cutlery and crockery. There is a wooden dining table and chairs, and a relaxing lounge area with comfy sofas. Floor to ceiling folding glass doors open onto a private wooden veranda with peaceful garden views, ideal for relaxing, with furniture for alfresco dining. All villas come with cable TV, a DVD player, a telephone and Wi-Fi. Bedrooms are simply decorated with king size or twin beds, air conditioning and ceiling fans, and ensuite bathrooms comprise WC, washbasin, and shower. A daily cleaning service is included.

Children of all ages are warmly welcome at Les Villas D’Or. Cots and extra child beds are available upon request, and a babysitting service can be arranged. Due to the waterside nature of the property, parents are reminded to ensure that children remain under constant adult supervision.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
