Overview

Paradise Sun is an upmarket beach resort, fringed by the idyllic white sands of the Cote D’Or on Praslin Island in the Seychelles. Located 1,500km off the coast of East Africa, Praslin is the second largest of over 100 islands in the Seychelles archipelago, and its calm turquoise waters and leafy interior are home to hawksbill turtles, giant tortoises, and a host of sea and birdlife. Nestled in extensive verdant gardens alongside a 2km stretch of pristine beach, this well-established, substantial hotel offers friendly, laid-back service along with 80 rooms all with ocean views, a lovely pool, a beachside bar and restaurant, a spa, and a good choice of water-based activities.

Guest areas include two refreshingly cool, spacious lounges and a pleasant indoor restaurant, where breakfast and daily afternoon tea are served overlooking extensive tropical gardens. The grounds house an inviting pool and sun loungers, and an onsite spa offers beauty treatments and massages. St Pierre bar and restaurant, located directly on the beach, has a relaxed atmosphere complete with sand floor and panoramic Indian Ocean views. An a la carte lunch menu includes local specialties. Evening meals feature generous buffets with an international theme, and regular evening entertainment is provided.

The many water-based activities available include swimming, snorkelling, diving, kayaking, and paddle boarding. There is an onsite PADI dive centre, suitable for all levels including novice. The hotel offers yoga sessions, volleyball, table tennis, and water polo plus regular nature walks. Weekly complimentary sunset cruises are also available, subject to reservation.

Accommodation comprises 80 contemporary ground or first-floor rooms located in French-Creole style bungalows. Each well-appointed room has a king size or twin beds, and an ensuite bathroom with shower and WC. All units come with a fridge and hot drink facilities, telephone, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. Sliding doors leading onto a private veranda overlooking the ocean.

Children of all ages are warmly welcome at Paradise Sun. There’s a daily kids club with activities including cooking, games, and arts and crafts. The hotel offers several larger ground floor units comprising a bedroom, a lounge with a sofa bed, and an ensuite bathroom with a bath, shower, and WC. These ‘deluxe rooms’ accommodate two adults and two children and are ideal for families or small groups. Under 12s stay free of charge when sharing with adults, and for families with older children, there are also a number of first floor rooms which interconnect via an adjoining terrace. Complimentary cots are provided upon request, and a babysitting service can be arranged.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
