Overview

Shandrani Beachcomber is an action packed all inclusive 4* resort set on a picturesque private peninsula in the South West of Mauritius.

The location is reasonably sheltered from the trade winds and features three beaches, a stunning wild beach and two more sheltered beaches.

The 327 rooms and suites are all Ocean facing with a variety of room types to accommodate families of different shapes and sizes. Standard rooms can sleep up to 3, whilst the two bedroom family apartments and deluxe two bedroom family apartments can sleep families of four or five comfortably. Rooms are comfortable and functional rather than luxurious, but this is in keeping with the relatively strong value for money that Shandrani represents.

The resort features 5 restaurants, 1 buffet and the other four a la carte, covering Thai, Italian and International Cuisine. There is also a spa with pool, sauna, hamman and 20 treatment rooms.

Shandrani is great for active families with more than enough facilities for every taste. The list is endless, but highlights of the complimentary facilities include the 9 hole pitch and putt golf course, 6 floodlit tennis courts, dinghy sailing (Lasers and Hobie Cats, with sailing lessons available), windsurfing, kayaking and unlimited water-skiing. Snorkelling and Scuba Diving is also available. Finally, there is a kids club for kids up to the age of 12.

The one drawback of Shandrani is its location very near to the International Airport. Expect flight noise for 5 minutes whenever a plane takes off, usually around one per hour.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
