Overview

This lively and vibrant all-inclusive 4* resort is located along the southwest coast of Mauritius in the Bel Ombre area. Set amidst tropical gardens right by the beach, with a pretty backdrop of mountains with slopes punctuated by sugarcane fields, it’s a lovely getaway for some serious rest and relaxation. The colourful décor reflects the resort’s upbeat character while staying true to its eco-friendly principles. There are no fewer than three swimming pools, a fitness centre, spa and plenty of water sports and land based activities such as golf and tennis to enjoy,

The 214 rooms are chic and stylish, with splashes of bright, eye-catching colours throughout and they come in four different categories including Standard Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Family Rooms and Beach Rooms, which have direct access to the sandy shore and stunning views of the Indian Ocean. All rooms are air conditioned and come with amenities such as a minibar, a satellite TV and an iPod docking station. En-suite bathrooms provide plenty of space and have a separate bathtub and shower.

There’s a diverse line-up of dining experiences to try out. Show is the resort’s main restaurant where you can watch the energetic chefs preparing international dishes at open cooking stations. Playa is a casual, open air Mediterranean restaurant, while Truck is quite literally a charming truck set in the sand offering lighter bites with distinctive Mauritian touches. The resort also has several bars serving all manner of alcoholic and soft drinks. Room service is readily available, with the option to order drinks and light bites to enjoy by the pool or out on the beach as well.

Those looking to explore the ocean can go snorkelling, kite surfing, windsurfing or diving. Land based activities include golf, tennis or bocce ball, leisurely cycling or even giant chess! The resort has three swimming pools, two of which are right by the beach, with the third further inland. There’s a well-equipped fitness centre with lots of state-of-the-art facilities and there are professional trainers on hand to devise personalised workout programmes. The LUX* ME spa encourages guests to customise their own treatments and pampering sessions.

For younger children, there’s the kids club PLAY, while for teenagers there’s Studio 17. Both of these clubs are designed to showcase the benefits of island living and offer lots of worthwhile, enriching activities. Treasure hunts, language classes, arts and crafts and dance sessions are among the many things youngsters can get involved in.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
