Overview

The elegant Beachcomber Dinarobin tropical beachside resort is situated on a scenic peninsula in southwest Mauritius at the foot of stunning Le Morne Mountain, a basalt monolith some 1,800 feet high that’s punctured with caves and boasts UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The 5* property is one of several high-end resorts scattered along the shoreline, although it boasts a particularly elegant feel and is set amid wonderful lush natural surroundings. There are excellent facilities nearby, along with a wide range of land and water-based activities, plus a professional, 18-hole golf course,

The high end accommodation comprises suites and villas with an open and spacious yet cosy feel and rooms come with lovely views over the resort’s gardens and the ocean beyond. Rooms are air conditioned and house a TV with satellite channels plus a minibar and complimentary tea and coffee. In the en-suite bathrooms, the toilet, shower and bathtub are all separate.

There are four restaurants serving a wide array of dishes from around the world. From informal beachside meals to formal fine dining, the restaurants together offer a really good variety of dining experiences. The main restaurant is L’Harmonie, which has both outdoor and indoor seating, sumptuous buffet breakfasts, a la carte dinners and live cooking stations.

Guests have shared use of facilities at the nearby sister resort Beachcomber Paradis. Many water-based activities are available for no extra charge, include windsurfing, glass-bottom boat excursions, stand-up paddle boarding and water skiing. Golfing fans will be pleased to learn that in addition to the hotel’s own golf course, they also have access to several other courses in the vicinity. Tennis, football, table tennis and bocciball are also available, and there’s a dedicated sports centre to make use of along with a full-service spa with plenty of tempting treatments to choose from.

The hotel’s bespoke Family Suites are recommended for parents travelling with young children. A babysitting service is provided and there’s an excellent kids club located right by the beach, a great place for children to try new things, meet new friends and generally have lots of fun!

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
