EnquireDavison’s Camp is a traditional tented safari camp situated in a remote corner of Hwange National Park in northwest Zimbabwe. Set in a private concession, this simple, authentic camp offers nine spacious tented rooms, a swimming pool, and a viewing deck overlooking an open plain and a waterhole popular with wildlife. Relaxed and friendly with intimate hosting and guiding, Davison’s Camp will appeal to travellers seeking a classic safari experience in an unspoilt, wilderness environment.
Guest areas include an open plan dining space with a long communal table, and a comfortable lounge with a small bar. The main area is open sided and leads out onto a decked veranda with excellent views of the surrounding plain and the animals frequenting the adjacent waterhole. A fire pit with seating is a lovely spot for a sundowner or post dinner drink. There is a small swimming pool flanked by loungers, and a raised area of decking which is ideal for observing wildlife.
The camp is located in the private Linkwasha Reserve, an area boasting a high density of wildlife, including over 100 mammals and more than 400 species of birds. Regular sightings include high numbers of buffalo and elephant, plus cheetah, lion, leopard, zebra, giraffe, and wildebeest.
Activities include both day and night game drives in the private reserve, plus guided walks with experienced trackers, which take place in the mornings to avoid the heat of the day. Cultural visits to local villages are also encouraged. A regular clientele, including buffalo and elephant, frequent the camp waterhole, allowing wildlife viewing from the comfort of ones chair.
Accommodation comprises eight simple and stylish tented rooms, and one larger family unit. All rooms have double or twin beds, ceiling fans, and an ensuite bathroom with basin, WC, and a shower with hot and cold running water. Outside is a private decked veranda with seating and super views over the plains.
Children from 6 years of age are warmly welcome in camp. Davison’s offers a two bedroom tented unit, which is ideal for families or larger groups, and contains one king-size and two twin beds, plus a family bathroom. Note that the camp is unfenced and wild animals, including elephants, regularly roam through. Although it is unlikely that wildlife would approach people or tents, parents are reminded to supervise their children at all times.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
