Overview

Villa Song is an elegant boutique hotel in a tranquil riverside location just outside the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, southern Vietnam. This French colonial style retreat offers 23 bespoke rooms and suites, a fine dining restaurant with river views, a lovely saltwater pool, verdant gardens, a gym, and a spa. The hotel operates a complimentary speedboat taxi from the hotel into the city’s bustling centre, 15 minutes away. This stylish property will appeal to travellers on a higher budget who want a serene and relaxing base from which to explore the heart of thriving Ho Chi Minh City.

The hotel sits on the banks of the Saigon River, in a genteel neighbourhood of upmarket houses and leafy avenues. Communal areas at Villa Song include an elegant restaurant and bar, Bistro Song Vie, which enjoys lovely views of the river and offers all day dining and a menu spanning Vietnamese, Asian, and Western cuisine. The hotel’s picturesque tropical gardens house a delightful 30m saltwater swimming pool flanked by loungers. There is a fully-equipped gym on site, plus a spa offering a range of massages and beauty treatments, for which booking is highly recommended. Guests can travel in style from Villa Song into the heart of Ho Chi Minh courtesy of the hotel’s complimentary speedboat which operates at regular intervals throughout the day.

Accommodation comprises 23 individually designed, beautifully appointed rooms and suites, all with wooden floors and neutral decor. Each has a double or twin beds, a sleek bathroom, and views of the garden or pool. All are equipped with satellite TV, a complimentary minibar, and Wi-Fi. Several rooms have private balconies and a separate lounge area. Rooms vary in size and layout from the ‘Writer’s Room’ which is ideal for a single traveller, to the expansive 'Imperial Suite' which boasts an impressive 105m2 of living space and comprises a king sized four poster bed, a separate lounge, a deluxe bathroom, and two private balconies with views of the river and the hotel pool.

Children are warmly welcome at Villa Song. Although there are no child specific facilities at the hotel, the swimming pool and lovely gardens will appeal to guests of all ages. A number of interconnecting rooms are available, which are a great choice for families or groups travelling together. Children under five years of age stay free of charge, and discounts are available for guests under 12 years of age. Cots are supplied free of charge, subject to availability.

  • I was also just about to email you to thank you and the team for arranging yet again, another wonderful experience.

    Mount Kenya was spectacular and wild - I think I prefer it to Kili in many ways. The entire support team was professional, friendly and all round fantastic in making sure that we were safe, well fed and well looked after. In particular, we would commend Peter the guide as well as Paul one of the porters who doubled-up as his deputy on summit day. Our route was often shrouded in mist and rain that rapidly gathered in the valleys and moorlands, and we were very impressed at how Peter managed to navigate us safely through all of that notwithstanding. In addition, we loved learning about the history of Mount Kenya from him in the evenings. And ofcourse, I was blown away by the lovely birthday surprise at the end complete with balloons and a delicious cake that had journeyed with us from day 1. One thing we might recommend because of the sudden change in weather (it would sometimes get extremely cold and wet) is for the equipment list to be a little bit more detailed in terms of its recommendations e.g. layers to be moisture-wicking, walking boots be waterproof, doubling up on socks to avoid blisters etc.

    El Karama is a beautiful conservancy and the lodge a true labour of love. Great hospitality in a relaxed environment. Delicious, fresh food. We enjoyed the drives, even if we didn't see much wildlife as the heavens opened on us for the last two outings. However, since it was very much geared towards families, I am not sure if I would stay again without kids. That said, I think it was perfect for a 3d/2n stay post mountain, and a much better choice than flying to the masai mara given the limited time we had.

    Our transits were smooth. Samuel the driver was always on time, drove safely and kept the vehicle clean.

    So it was a brilliant experience and one which I certainly will cherish for some time to come. It was great to work with you for a third time, and I certainly hope it won't be the last
