Caravelle Hotel is an extensive, upmarket property in a prime central location in bustling Ho Chi Minh City, southern Vietnam. This deluxe hotel offers a high level of service along with 335 spacious rooms and suites, several dining options, a rooftop bar, a 7th floor outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and a spa. Caravelle is a contemporary, highly comfortable oasis in the heart of this thriving metropolis.

Built in 1959, the hotel was a popular haunt for foreign journalists reporting on the Vietnam War. The Caravelle has an excellent location in the city’s District 1, opposite the Opera House and within walking distance of cultural and historical attractions including Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, the Reunification Palace, City Hall, and the War Remnants Museum. Ben Thanh Market and the shopping and entertainment areas of Dong Khoi and Union Square Mall are also nearby.

Guest areas include an elegant gourmet restaurant, 'Reflections', which offers fine dining with a five course dinner menu spanning international and Vietnamese cuisine. Note a smart casual dress code applies. ‘Nineteen’ is a buffet style restaurant, especially popular for its meat and seafood specialities, and its excellent breakfasts. There is an all-day tapas bar serving light meals, whilst the hotel’s elegant café offers light meals throughout the day, including traditional afternoon tea. Caravelle’s iconic rooftop bar boasts stunning views of the city’s skyline, and is a great venue for a sundowner. The hotel also has a champagne bar and 24 hour in-room dining is available.

Facilities include a lovely outdoor pool with an adjacent pool bar in a leafy courtyard on the 7th floor. For the energetic, Caravelle’s fully equipped fitness centre is open 24 hours, or choose to relax with an indulgent massage or beauty treatment at the hotel spa. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

The accommodation comprises 335 stylish, contemporary rooms and suites. Room sizes range from generous deluxe rooms which offer king or twin beds, sleek bathrooms, and exhilarating views of the city or the Saigon River, to expansive suites with separate sleeping and living areas. Largest of all is the impressive Caravelle Suite, measuring a whopping 136m2, and comprising a bedroom with a king size bed and separate dressing room, a deluxe bathroom and separate guest WC, plus a kitchen, a study, a lounge, a dining room and a private terrace. All rooms and suites offer satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi and hot drink facilities. Guests staying in ‘Signature’ rooms enjoy access to a guest lounge, along with complimentary cocktails and canapes.

Children are extremely welcome. Each room can accommodate up to two adults and one child, and an extra bed can be supplied, subject to additional cost. The hotel offers a number of adjoining rooms which are ideal for families, with discounts available to guests under 12 years of age.

  • Thank you yet again for another meticulously organised and executed holiday (our 5th with you). Every aspect worked perfectly.
Please could you pass on our sincere thanks to your agent in Sri Lanka; Lakshita, our driver and guide, absolutely made the trip for us - he was so keen for us to have the best experience possible. He was organised, kind, interested, punctual, the car was always spotless, and he was an excellent driver. His extensive knowledge was really appreciated by us and was exactly what we had hoped for in a guide. I think the highlight for us was our day in Anuradhapura (7 hours of absorbing history and culture), but there was so much to learn and absorb every day. He also made several suggestions for things that he thought we might like that weren't in our itinerary, and then booked them for us. These included an ayurvedic massage after climbing Sigiriya, a cultural show (an hour of touristy fun!), reef snorkelling with turtles (a real highlight for me - I wish we could have stayed all day), a lagoon boat trip and visit to a cinnamon island, a turtle sanctuary visit, and a gemstone factory visit. He also managed to get us a private tour of Lunanguga, which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. We also really enjoyed the tea factory tour.
Our guide for the hike was also really excellent, and he and Lakshita made sure that our day was perfectly tailored to our (my) ability.
All our accommodation was also perfectly selected. Our favourite was the Ceylon tea trails bungalow (just perfect!), but The Villa Bentota came a close second as a perfect way to relax at the end of the trip. Our villa and the grounds at Uga at Ulagalla were also beautiful.
(Our only slightly disappointing day was the whale watching - no whales wanted to be seen on that particular day, plus I was very sea-sick despite taking meds! The tour organisers offered us a repeat day the following day, which we declined! Having said that, being out on the water was still enjoyable, up to a point...).
I'm sure I've missed out something - we basically loved it all and felt that the balance of the itinerary was perfect for us (we used the 'rest' day in Galle to do the snorkelling, lagoon, and turtles)
    Thank you very, very much.

  • We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
