Lake Manyara National Park is the smallest park in Tanzania and boasts outstanding natural beauty. Although wildlife sightings may not be as intense as those in other Tanzanian parks, there is a unique array of animals to enjoy in this vibrant setting. Flocks of pink flamingos congregate on the lake’s shore, and huge herds of elephants together with playful gangs of monkeys and baboons, make for an unforgettable visit. Lucky travellers might even catch a glimpse of the park’s famed tree-climbing lions! Lake Manyara’s location makes it a popular pit stop for travellers en route elsewhere, but despite the risk of vehicle congestion, this delightful park constitutes a compelling component for any North Tanzanian itinerary.
We usually visit Lake Manyara for a game drive on route to the Ngorongoro Highlands, unless we are using the excellent Lake Manyara Tree Lodge.
