This itinerary is perfect for someone looking for an adventurous but relaxing Thai holiday in July or August.
For those on a more modest budget, see our Thai Temples, Jungles & Beach Holiday, which features lower cost (but still excellent) accommodation.
DAY 1: OVERNIGHT FLIGHT TO THAILAND
DAY 2 - 5: THREE NIGHTS IN BANGKOK
You'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. You will have three nights and two full days to explore Bangkok. Getting around independently is easy with the skytrain, metro and river boats. The food in Bangkok is incredible, and it is well worth taking the effort to explore the local eats. After a long flight, we recommend staying at a hotel with nice pool to retreat and recover and taking it all at a nice and easy pace. With one day to explore the magnificent Grand Palace and Wat Pho and one day to perhaps take a walking food tour or a guided river trip on a local long tail boat.
DAY 5-7: ELEPHANT HILLS IN KOH SOK NATIONAL PARK
Early morning flight to Phuket or Surat Thani and transfer by road to Khao Sok National Park. Elephant Hills is the nearest thing to a luxury safari camp in Thailand. It is a superb, world leading elephant conservation center set amidst the stunning natural beauty of the National Park. Activities include kayaking, jungle hikes and the famous elephant experience.
DAY 7-13: KOH SAMUI
Road and Ferry Transfer to Koh Samui. The rest of your holiday is at leisure, relaxing on an idyllic Thai beach. In the months of July and August, we recommend staying on Koh Samui or Koh Phagnan. Samui is better for high end resorts with lots of facilities, Phagnan is much less developed with lovely beaches and boutique hotels and more of an independent spirit.
DAY 13: OVERNIGHT FLIGHT HOME
Transfer to the airport and fly home
DAY 15 : ARRIVE HOME
Guide price is based on recommended accommodations. Alternative accommodations and upgrades are available. Please get in touch for alternatives and upgrade options.
Most International flights land in Bangkok, but there are some good options for flying into Phuket instead. Flights tend to be most expensive between mid Nov to mid Feb and July / August.
From the UK: British Airways, Qantas, Thai Airways and Eva Airways all offer direct flights from London (approx 11 hours flight time). Fares typically vary from £600 (low season) - £900 (high season). You will often be able to save £100 - £200 flying indirect with Emirates or Qatar (via Dubai and Doha), and these can make a lot of sense if flying from a regional airport. We do find ourselves using Thai Airways more often than not simply because they can offer connecting flights directly out of Koh Samui, connecting in Bangkok to London, whilst other airlines invariably involve an overnight in Bangkok before returning home.
From the US: There are no direct flights from the US. Thai Airways flies semi-direct from LA to Bangkok with a quick refuel stop in Seoul (approx $1500pp). Alternatively there are a number of airlines flying from the West and East Coast via either Asia or Europe for around $1300pp.
This is suitable year round, but is in particular great if you need to travel in July / August. Even though it is the rainy season in much of the country, rainfall tends to be short and sweet and constrained to late afternoons. And the beaches of the East Coast Islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan stay dry and sunny.
This three centre holiday is perfect for families looking for a relaxing and luxurious holiday in Thailand that offers something more than just flopping on a beach.
If you would prefer to skip Bangkok, it is possible to fly to Phuket via Dubai with Emirates and make this an even more relaxing two centre holiday.

We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
