Overview

Named for its scenic location on the banks of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, the luxurious Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is set in nearly a dozen acres of gorgeous tropical gardens. It’s designed to be a place of serenity and relaxation, where guests can unwind and take things slowly after a long day exploring the many fascinating sights and attractions of Bangkok.

This high-end resort has a total of 306 rooms, each one of which is decorated in classy Thai style. Most of the rooms are located in three buildings spread across the resort’s beautifully tended grounds; floor-to-ceiling windows not only let in a lot of natural light to make the rooms bright and airy, they also offer stunning views of the resort’s gardens, the Chao Phraya River or the bustling streets of Bangkok. Amenities include air conditioning, an LCD TV with DVD player, a minibar and coffee and tea making facilities - each room also comes with a complimentary smartphone that can be used on the resort and when out and about; guests are free to use this for unlimited internet, texts and calls. Two extra rooms can be found on the Anantara Dream, a rice barge over 100 years old that offers private full-service river cruises. These special cruise experiences last three days, with guests spending two nights onboard the barge.

The facilities are superb and include one of the largest outdoor pools in Bangkok, along with a children’s pool and a hot tub. There are also two tennis courts, a fitness centre, a free kids club and even a rooftop hydroponic farm. Cooking lessons and city tours led by expert guides are also available.

There’s a huge range of dining choices at the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort. The Riverside Terrace, a buffet-style restaurant serving international cuisine - is just one example of the many superb riverside dining options on offer. There’s a broad range of cuisine to enjoy from Japanese Teppanyaki at Benihana, to delicious Italian fare at Brio, or dishes from the Pacific Rim at Trader Vic’s. Other dining options include a lavish breakfast buffet, several bars, a coffee shop selling hot drinks and light snacks and Dining by Design, a special dining experience just for two where couples can enjoy privacy and intimacy as they dine on cuisine of their choice.

Children of all ages are welcome at the resort, with ‘Family Suites’ tailored specifically to family requirements. There’s a kids club and the designated children’s pool, as well as a babysitting service.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
