Leaving the Pacific Ocena behind, you then head inland to the white granite peaks, giant trees and breath-taking waterfalls which all form part of Yoesmite National Park. During your stay, you will have some time to explore independently and one day with a guide who will take you off the beaten track into the park. There is so much to see in Yosemite, around every corner there is a new view to take in.
From the dizzy heights of the half dome to the depths or the earth, your road trip continues to Death Valley, famed as the lowest and hottest place on earth. This barren and desolate landscape is to be seen to be believed. Prepare for scorching days - we recommend early starts.
Your road trip continues into Nevada, where your final base of the holiday is Las Vegas. You have a few days here, some of which you will want to spend experiencing the strip and exploring the different attractions. On one of your days, you will want to head out to the Grand Canyon West where we can arrange a day experiencing the canyon up close and personal. Top of our recommendations is a half day rafting trip on the Colorado River, followed by a helicopter ride to the rim, capped off with a walk on the vertigo-inducing Sky Walk.
Please note, this trip is entirely customisable. We can extend this trip to 2 weeks, or add an extension to Los Angeles if required. Please contact us for details.

Full Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive San Francisco
You will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel
Day 2 San Francisco
Today you are at leisure in San Francisco. You might want to catch a cable car up to Fisherman's Wharf and wander down to pier 39 to see the sealions. If you have the energy, we suggest cycling all the way to Sausalito, where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch with fabulous views of San Francisco across the water. If you want to visit Alcatraz, make sure you have booked in advance.
Day 3 San Francisco (optional wine tour)
Today you have the option to go on a wine tour. You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and transferred in a small minibus, which can carry a maximum of 13 people. During the tour, you will visit 4 - 6 boutique wineries in the Napa and/or Sonoma Valleys. You will be visiting a mix of smaller and larger wineries and will also have a chance to request stops along the way.
Day 4 Drive to Santa Cruz
This morning you will pick up your hire car and drive to Santa Cruz. Located on the Pacific Ocean, this town is the spiritual home of Californian surfing. With a beach right across the road from your hotel, you can rent body boards or simply lie back and catch some rays. Later in the afternoon, you can wander down to the Boardwalk where you can ride on roller coasters to your heart's content.
Day 5 Santa Cruz
Today is free to relax in Santa Cruz. You could spend some time exploring the local beaches, or maybe book a surf lesson?
Day 6 Drive to Yosemite
Today you drive to Yosemite National Park. In the late afternoon, you might want to rent bikes so that you can get a scale of the surrounding peaks.
Day 7 Yosemite Guided Hike
You will meet your guide in the Yosemite Valley in the morning. You will have a full day together. Depending on what your preferences are, you can either go for a day hike, or a gentler walk taking in some of the less well known areas of the park.
Day 8 Yosemite
You might want to further explore Valley today to visit some of the famous viewpoints in the park. Glacier Point is a particularly beautiful spot with jaw dropping views of the Half Dome. Don't forget your swimming costumes, as there are several opportunities for river swimming along the way; the perfect way to cool off.
Day 9 Drive to Death Valley
Today is a long drive, taking you from the heights of the Sierra Nevada to the lowest point on earth. Pack a picnic, as you will pass some beautiful viewpoints as you drive over Tioga Pass. Death Valley is a barren and stark desert holding the record for the America's hottest temperature (57C) Summer temperatures regularly hit the high 40'sC, so you will want to spend the middle of the day inside and save exploring for the evening and early morning. There is a visitor's centre in Furnace Creek where you will be able to get advice on the highlights of the area. Zabriskie Point offers some spectacular views and at Badwater you have the opportunity to walk out on a boardwalk over vast salt flats.
Day 10 Death Valley
Today you have the day to explore Death Valley.
Day 11 Drive to Las Vegas
Today you drive to Las Vegas.
Day 12 Las Vegas
Today is a day to yourselves in the original Sin City. Cruise the strip, visit casinos and stay up all night in the city of neon. If you want help booking tickets to see one of the many shows on offer, please get in touch.
Day 13 Las Vegas
Another free day to take in the bright lights of Las Vegas.
Day 14 Grand Canyon West
Today we suggest you get up early and drive to Grand Canyon West. Not actually part of the Grand Canyon National Park, this part of the Grand Canyon is owned by the Hualapai Nation. A visit to the see-through skywalk is a must and you also have the option of a day's rafting on the Colorado River at the bottom of the Canyon, before catching a helicopter ride to the top.
Day 15 Depart
Guide price is based on recommended accommodations. Alternative accommodations and upgrades are available. Please get in touch for alternatives and upgrade options.
This holiday begins in San Francisco and ends in Las Vegas. Both of these destinations are serviced by direct flights from the UK with Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. From November to March, flights will cost from £670, April - June, these prices increase to from £770 and then in the peak season they jump to £1,100, but there may be better prices available during the sales. It is often cheaper to fly mid-week, rather than at the weekend. Please get in touch for a quote.
This holiday is available all year round, but if you are travelling without children, we recommend avoiding July & August due to the increased flight prices. The weather is warmer in the summer, but the Central Coast & San Francisco areas can become shrouded in fog, especially in the mornings and evenings. Our favourite times for this holiday are April - June and September - October. Please note that the road from Yosemite - Death Valley can become impassable due to snow. When this happens, we will recommend a detour which may increase the driving times.

We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
