Overview

For those on a budget, L’Hippocampe is a possibility. With 28 rooms, this hotel falls solidly into the 3* category. It was built in the 1930’s and has echoes of an American style motel. Rooms are cheerful, but in need of some tlc. The friendly management and excellent location do help to make up for its short comings, however. The view across the lagoon is the best in town and the gated swimming pool and unpretentious surrounding make it a great mid-range option for families.

Situated on a small lagoon on the Atlantic Coast, Oualidia is a well-heeled town, slowly growing in popularity for both domestic and international tourists. Whilst most of the Moroccan Atlantic coast is exposed to the elements, the unique tidal lagoon offers calm waters and abundant birdlife: there is a chance of seeing flamingos in the winter months. Water sports fans will love exploring the lagoon by kayak or boat, whilst for keen surfers, the wild Atlantic Coast offers crashing waves and great surf.

Food-wise, the region is particularly well-known for its oyster production. Sea food lovers can also enjoy fresh lobster, crab and red mullet.

  • We had an amazing time thank you very much! The riads and hotels were outstanding and everything went as clockwork. We had really bad rainfall on the day we transferred to Marrakech but our driver didnt give up and we eventually found a passable road ( which I think was the last possible one to get us there!)

    Thank you so much!

  • We would very much like to give our feedback regarding our trip to Morocco because it was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish there was nothing to fault, Mustafa our guide in the mountains was great - discrete when necessary but delightfully eloquent and informed about a wide variety of subjects. The food in the mountains was superb ( though the toilet facilities in the gites d'etape left a lot to be desired!!) The guest house Dar Adrar was beautiful with amazing views. The riad in Marrakesh was lovely and such a welcome respite after the hectic souks.....and as for the surfing.....it was fab!!!! Mohammed our instructor was patient and so super cool....a real gem and great with our children.
All in all it was wonderful and we were all sad to leave. We will definitely consider using Tourdust again and wont hesitate to recommend you to our friends.
