EnquireSituated between Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater, Gibb's farm is a secluded and tranquil retreat. Dotted around the lovely gardens are 18 individually decorated cottages. Each of the bright cottages has a lounge area and private balcony offering views of the pretty gardens or of the surrounding coffee plantations. The large bathrooms have a separate bath and shower and also an outdoor shower.
Over at the main farmhouse are the communal areas including a living room, dining rooms and outside verandahs, where you can sit back and enjoy the views.
We love Gibb's Farm because it serves as the perfect base to relax and have a break from the more rigid schedule of a safari. Its gorgeous location also helps to build a sense of rural Africa. If sitting back and taking it all in sounds too sedentary, mountain biking and walking are two of the activities on offer, as well as a broad assortment of farm-based activities including bread-making and coffee roasting. For those looking for a more cultural experience, there are community projects to visit.
Children of all ages are welcome. There is one family cottage comprising two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a common living area. Inter-connecting rooms are also available. Although there is no dedicated children's programme, the range of activities is fabulous. Children love exploring the extensive grounds and are often invited to milk the cows or feed the pigs! Staff members offer an informal babysitting service and cots and highchairs are available. Although parents can be reassured by the fence around the property, children must remain under attentive parental supervision at all times.
Gibb's Farm is an attractive and tranquil hideaway in a wonderful location, where guests can enjoy a change of pace in the comfort of peaceful surroundings.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
