Overview

Motswiri stands on the banks of the Selinda Spillway in the far west corner of Northern Botswana’s Selinda Reserve. This beautiful and remote area combines the open flood plains of the Okavango Delta to the West and North of the camp with the thick, riverine forests lining the Selinda Spillway to the East. Motswiri camp is located in the world renowned Selinda Reserve and operates exclusively on over 120,000 acres of pristine, African bush. Due to the diversity of the vegetation, the birding is superb. The reserve is also home to giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, Roan Antelope, Sable, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and many elephant.

Motswiri Camp consists of five large and tastefully appointed en-suite, classic meru tents all on raised decking that overlook the seasonal Selinda Spillway. Each tent has its own large decked veranda. Motswiri Camp also has a specially-designed family unit. The main area of the camp offers a large, comfortable sitting area with separate dining. There is also a small plunge pool for those hot October afternoons. In addition, there is a separate viewing platform which overlooks a deep pool where the elephants come to drink.

Motswiri Camp offers walking safaris, horse riding safaris and game drives.

Activities are focused on game drives. During periods of high water levels, water activities may be possible but not guaranteed.

For horse riding enthusiasts (experienced riders only) the camp also offers 5 and 7 night riding safaris which utilise a remote fly camp. The Camp has twenty well schooled horses stabled in camp, which are accustomed to riding in big game areas. Horse riding should be pre-booked and guests should bring their own boots and half chaps. For walking enthusiasts there are similar multi-night walking trails on request.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
