EnquireA boutique Riad in the heart of the Fes Medina, Riad Anata is one of our favourites if you’re looking for a stylish base from which to explore the old city.
With just 5 rooms (all en-suite, with air con and luxury bedding) the Riad is small and intimate, a tranquil haven after a day spent wandering through the souks. The communal areas include a roof terrace with spectacular views, a stylish dining area in the central courtyard (complete with water fountain) and a small, cosy lounge.
The interior design is modern Moroccan, think smooth plaster walls in earthy tones complimented by pops of colour and stylish, thoughtfully paced artworks. The riad is incredibly well maintained and the overall effect is fresh and funky - although you do get the feeling that you could be walking through the pages of a travel magazine.
Whilst this atmosphere may appeal to couples and older families parents with younger children might not feel so comfortable mixing in with the couples who invariably book up the rooms. That said younger children are very welcome although there are no dedicated family rooms. For older families (who are happy to split up and take two rooms) we recommend taking the Green and Red rooms, located opposite each other on the first floor. For triples the Blue and White rooms can take an extra bed if necessary.
Whist staying at Riad Anata you will be looked after by owner Valerie and her small team – they are incredibly welcoming and you’ll be very well looked after, from shopping tips to teaching you how to cook the perfect chicken tagine they’ll be happy to share their expert advice.
A selection of wine and beer is served at Riad Anata and Wifi is available throughout the property.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever

Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!
Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.
Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!
All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.
Thanks you once again!
