EnquireFashioned after ancient water gardens that once dominated the local landscape, Water Garden Sigiriya is a luxury resort designed to bring guests closer to nature. The property lies just 6km away from Sigiriya, a spectacular ancient rock fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also conveniently located within Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, a central part of the country that’s home to a wealth of culturally important sites and monuments. Water Garden Sigiriya is spread across 35 acres of beautifully manicured grounds and has captivating views of both Sigiriya and the gorgeous surrounding countryside.
There’s a total of 30 villas at Water Garden Sigiriya, each of which is tastefully decorated and well furnished with plenty of amenities to make for a comfortable stay. Accommodation is grouped into three categories, with 13 standard villas, 13 deluxe villas with plunge pools, and four duplex twin villas also with plunge pools to choose from. All of these come with air conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, designer furniture, and en-suite bathrooms with separate bathtub and shower cubicle. All villas are chic and spacious, with lovely views of tranquil pools and streams.
Activities include a traditional buggy tour of the resort’s grounds to admire its abundant water features, or perhaps even a helicopter tour for a bird’s eye view of the area. Be sure to make use of the outdoor swimming pool and the well-equipped fitness centre, not to mention the dedicated butler service. Some of the many other activities available include archery, cycling and billiards. When it’s time to unwind after an active day, head to the spa, where fully qualified professionals offer a range of treatments using high quality, organic ingredients.
The main restaurant is open for three meals a day and offers both indoor and alfresco dining. On the menu is a tempting selection of international dishes, including many Sri Lankan specialties. All food is freshly prepared using locally sourced organic ingredients. One feature of the restaurant that’s sure to catch guests’ attention is its wonderfully ornate handcrafted chandelier, which adds a distinctive touch of class. For light snacks and drinks, there’s a two-level bar right by the pool.
Children of all ages are welcome, though parents are reminded to keep an eye on them at all times on account of the resort’s many waterways. The four spacious duplex villas with plunge pools sleep up to five and are therefore ideal for families. The duplex ground floor bedrooms have twin single beds and space for an extra bed and a baby cot, while the upstairs bedroom houses a king-size bed. These villas also come with comfortable living rooms with satellite TVs, and spacious pool decks with sunbeds and seating. While there are no specific child-oriented facilities or services on offer, children will doubtless be content using the pool and exploring the surrounding area with their families. The property is well located for exploring the famed Sigiriya rock fortress, as well as the Dambulla rock temple, the Minneriya National Park known for its abundant elephant population, and the many other rich attractions of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
