Morocco's Sahara Desert

Morocco's Sahara Desert

Experience the majestic Sahara Desert in Morocco. From the crumbling kasbahs and verdant oasis towns of the Draa Valley to the the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga, the Moroccan Sahara makes for an incredible journey.

In order to get out to the dunes at Erg Chebbi or Erg Chegaga, you need to allow a minimum of three days (it is a full day's drive there and a full day's drive back). If possible we strongly recommend you take longer to savour the unique atmosphere and the wonderful kasbahs, Palmeraies and boutique hotels along the way to break up the long journeys.

If you are looking for more of an adventure, consider our 6 day Sahara Desert trek.

  • They were thorough with outlining our personalized trek. They had very thorough information regarding travel in Morocco and on the trek (covers any possible questions). We had unexpected weather conditions on the trek and they were able to safely and reasonably alter our accommodations and plans. We also had a certified guide who spoke very good English, was very knowledgable about the area, and was just an absolute joy to have on the trip.

  • Service rating : Everyone at Tourdust was a pleasure to work with - very friendly and knowledgeable, and responsive. They were able to customise their standard Moroccan desert tour to fit our timeframe and needs. Itinerary very well planned out and everything went smoothly, we didn't have to think of anything.
Product : Our Moroccan desert holiday was a once in a lifetime, unforgettable, incredible experience for our whole family. We all agreed it was our best family vacation ever. The real highlight was the luxury campsite in the Sahara desert - camel rides, sand-surfing down the giant dunes, and stargazing, but the whole trip was perfect. Great guide and driver, great riads (loved Kasbah Ellouze and Kasbah Azul the most!). I highly recommend this trip if you like a little adventure in your holiday! We had 3 kids ages 5.5, 8 and 10 and we all loved it. Lots of car time but nobody minded and it was worth it once we were in the desert!

  • It was totally awesome!! Climbing the Toubkal summit by moonlight is just breathtaking!!! Yes it was absolutely freezing and so glad I took layers of thermals and hat and gloves!!

The Riads you booked were great, we both loved them, although we preferred the second Kasbah in Imlil we stayed in to the Kasbah Toubkal on our first night, our room was great especially after being in hostels for several nights!! Boy were they cold!!!!

El Fenn is fabulous, Lilly Allen had been staying with her band that week and left the day we arrived! Love that place, we are planning to go back next year! Caravanne was like walking into a little boutique hotel, loved that place as well.

There's something special about the mountains, loved it!

The desert camp was really well organised, although to be honest I think two nights are enough as there is not a lot to do and it is blisteringly hot by 9.00!! But we were looked after really well and had my first glass of wine for two weeks, went down very well!!! The sundowners were so much fun, especially trying to walk through the dunes after a couple of wines!!

Really great adventure and thank you so much for putting such a fab trip together for us!
