With top views of the Big Five and a luxury base from which to explore, Long Lee Manor provides the ideal spot in the Shamwari plains that ensures privacy as well as a first-hand experience of the African wilderness for larger groups or couples.

Long Lee Manor is just one of many sister lodges in the Shamwari Game Reserve. Like its sister lodges, it offers incredible opportunities to get close to and explore the surrounding wildlife. The Shamwari area is malaria-free, and has many green initiatives and animals that roam free around it, offering guests a great opportunity to experience the wildlife organically. Game Drives are one of the best ways to explore the surrounding plains. On these, guests can expect to spot elephants, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, wildebeest, antelope, and hyena, with the chance to also see White and Black Rhino, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog.

There are also plenty of opportunities to learn more about the area and local conservation efforts at the Rhino Awareness Centre, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and Born Free Big Cat Rescue Centre, some of an array of resident efforts to prevent poaching and conserve dwindling game populations.

Guest accommodation consists of 10 twin-bedded suites and 5 luxury rooms that can be converted into Super King beds, ideal for larger groups or couples. Each features a patio or balcony, en-suite bathroom with separate shower, and private minibars. Edwardian in style, the décor is designed to invoke a sense of colonial-style living. One of the rooms is designed to accommodate physically impaired guests.

The Manor boasts a number of great communal spaces in which guests can kick back and relax overlooking rolling landscapes. There are two swimming pools, a relaxation retreat, a fitness centre and steam room, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, and, for larger groups or businesses, a conference room suitable for up to 35 delegates.

Long Lee Manor is ideally suited for larger groups of adults and couples. Families with younger children would want to visit Long Lee Manor’s sister camp, Riverdene Lodge, which has accommodation and activities more than suitable for families with adventurous young children, or the Sarili Lodge, which is designed for exclusive use by families with older children.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
