Overview

Kuzuko Lodge is set within a private area of Addo Elephant National Park along the southern coast of South Africa. Thanks to its hilltop location, it offers guests breath-taking views of both the Zuurberg Mountains and the Karoo Plains below. The word ‘Kuzuko’ means ‘place of glory’ in the local Xhosa language and there’s no denying that the lodge fits its description. It offers a peaceful, secluded retreat far away from the hustle and bustle of big towns and cities; here, visitors can immerse themselves in nature and relax in wonderful surroundings.

The Addo Elephant National Park has plenty of memorable sights and experiences to offer. It’s South Africa’s third largest national park and is home to an elephant population of around 600 - a huge number considering that when the park was founded back in 1931, there were only 11 in the area. While the elephants are one of the main features, many other animals call the area home, such as black rhinos, Cape Buffaloes, lions, antelopes, hyenas and more. Game drives from the lodge are possible at various times of day, depending on the time of year. Guided expedition walks and cave exploration treks are also offered.

The accommodation comprises 24 luxurious, air-conditioned chalets, each one with its own private deck with superb views of the surrounding area. The well-equipped chalets are tastefully decorated in a contemporary style. All have en-suite bathrooms with bathtub and walk-in shower, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a minibar. When not exploring the park’s wildlife, there are plenty of on-site facilities to make use of. These include an infinity pool, a wellness centre, a curio shop and a restaurant with a deck for outdoor dining. Menus consist of local and national dishes, with food freshly prepared using local ingredients.

Kuzuko Lodge welcomes children of all ages and offers plenty of facilities and services to ensure families with younger ones in tow have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There’s a babysitting service available, along with camping cots, an outdoor playground and child-friendly menus. Age-appropriate outdoor activities are also provided, from treasure hunting and cultural experiences, to private safaris. For down time between activities, there’s a family lounge complete with board games, Wii and a DVD collection. Parents are advised to request a chalet with a child-friendly deck that offers improved safety without compromising on the view.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
