There are many beach resorts on the island of Koh Samui and one of the finest and most luxurious is Anantara Bophut. It’s located midway along a particularly tranquil and picturesque stretch of beach on the island’s northern coast and is one of several properties in the Anantara chain, whose hotels and resorts are known for their excellent facilities, warm hospitality and high quality of accommodation. This luxury beachside resort has a wealth of activities for guests of all tastes and ages, not to mention beautifully landscaped gardens to explore.
Altogether there are 106 rooms at the resort and they’re split up into eight different categories, ranging from rooms with garden views, to beachfront suites that come with their own pool. All rooms and suites come with many convenient amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar, an LCD TV, air conditioning and a beach bag. The accommodation is designed to let in copious amounts of natural light and all quarters boast pristine and modern Thai decor.
There are several dining venues at the resort. ‘High Tide’ offers a range of Thai cuisine for breakfast and dinner, with themed nights livening things up and both indoor and outdoor dining available. Australian cuisine is on the menu for lunch and dinner at ‘Full Moon’, which overlooks the infinity pool. ‘Ocean’s Edge’ serves cocktails by the sea, while ‘Eclipse Bar’ offers drinks and a lighter, more casual menu in a particularly relaxed setting. Private beachside dining can also be arranged.
There’s a great deal to do in and around the resort. For those looking to explore the wider area, there’s a very good selection of history excursions, trips to national parks, jungle expeditions and visits to local temples. Those wanting to stay on-site can make use of the many facilities, which include a fitness centre, library, full-service spa, infinity pool and tennis court. Yoga tuition, cocktail mixing, Thai boxing and fruit carving are also available, along with plenty of exciting water sports.
Children of all ages are welcome. Extra beds are available on request, although note that each type of room can only accommodate a maximum of one child. The Baan Ling Noi Children’s Club (Baan Ling Noi translates as ‘Little Monkey’) offers a broad range of age-appropriate activities for youngsters from 9am to 5pm every day of the week. Some of these include Thai origami, pizza making, towel animal folding, trampolining and sandcastle making. Activities are available for children between the ages of 4 and 10; those under the age of 4 can take part, so long as they have an adult or babysitter present with them.
Thank you yet again for another meticulously organised and executed holiday (our 5th with you). Every aspect worked perfectly.
Please could you pass on our sincere thanks to your agent in Sri Lanka; Lakshita, our driver and guide, absolutely made the trip for us - he was so keen for us to have the best experience possible. He was organised, kind, interested, punctual, the car was always spotless, and he was an excellent driver. His extensive knowledge was really appreciated by us and was exactly what we had hoped for in a guide. I think the highlight for us was our day in Anuradhapura (7 hours of absorbing history and culture), but there was so much to learn and absorb every day. He also made several suggestions for things that he thought we might like that weren't in our itinerary, and then booked them for us. These included an ayurvedic massage after climbing Sigiriya, a cultural show (an hour of touristy fun!), reef snorkelling with turtles (a real highlight for me - I wish we could have stayed all day), a lagoon boat trip and visit to a cinnamon island, a turtle sanctuary visit, and a gemstone factory visit. He also managed to get us a private tour of Lunanguga, which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. We also really enjoyed the tea factory tour.
Our guide for the hike was also really excellent, and he and Lakshita made sure that our day was perfectly tailored to our (my) ability.
All our accommodation was also perfectly selected. Our favourite was the Ceylon tea trails bungalow (just perfect!), but The Villa Bentota came a close second as a perfect way to relax at the end of the trip. Our villa and the grounds at Uga at Ulagalla were also beautiful.
(Our only slightly disappointing day was the whale watching - no whales wanted to be seen on that particular day, plus I was very sea-sick despite taking meds! The tour organisers offered us a repeat day the following day, which we declined! Having said that, being out on the water was still enjoyable, up to a point...).
I'm sure I've missed out something - we basically loved it all and felt that the balance of the itinerary was perfect for us (we used the 'rest' day in Galle to do the snorkelling, lagoon, and turtles)
Thank you very, very much.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
