The Elaphite Islands, North West of Dubrovnik, are formed out of ten small islands of which only a handful (Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan) are inhabited. With a rocky coastline, interspersed with white sandy beaches, they offer a perfect destination for those wanting to combine sea kayaking and snorkelling with some beach time. Inland, the islands have pretty villages and hills dotted with pine forests and vineyards.

You will be based on the Island of Lopud for your entire holiday, taking daily excursions to explore all the island has to offer and also to visit the neighbouring island of Kolocep. Your guide will lead you on your daily expeditions, when you can expect to spend on average 2 - 3 hours paddling per day. The rest of the time will be spent exploring locally by foot, snorkelling and relaxing on the beaches. To ensure a balanced itinerary, and to give weary arms a rest, two rest days are built in to the itinerary, when you will have a chance to have a go at Stand Up Paddle Boarding as well as visit neighbouring Dubrovnik - a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Standard accommodation is in self-catering apartments owned by local families. The rooms are simple but clean and licensed for tourists.

All Breakfasts and some of the dinners and lunches are included in the price of this holiday. Breakfasts are taken with the group at one of the cafes over-looking the sea. Lunch is at your own expense - you will usually stop at local taverns, but you can also pick up sandwiches from the island shop if you prefer picnics. Food is typically Mediterranean - seafood, garden grown vegetables and is prepared simply without heavy spices.

We can offer an upgraded accommodation at Hotel Lafodia which is a larger modern 4 star resort on the Island. Please get in touch for more details and upgrade costs.

When is best?

The Dubrovnik region and Elaphite islands enjoy a typically Mediterranean climate with hot, sunny summers and mild winters. Rainfall is low but cannot be ruled out any time of the year

Is it for me?

This is a family holiday and whilst no previous sea kayaking experience is required, all members of the family should be strong swimmers and comfortable swimming out of their depth. Paddling distances range from 7.5 to 16 km per day (3-6hrs). Double and single kayaks are both available. We strongly recommend double kayaks for children under the age of 12. The suggested minimum age for this trip is 6.

Number of participants: min 4 - max 20

  • Hi - now back.
In short it was a great holiday with very very little to fault. Location on Lopud was perfect for family and accommodation was exactly as you said ‘simple’ clean and comfortable hosted by a wonderful friendly local family ...all 1min walk from the front. Great breakfast that was straight from the garden in part and always abundant.
Our guide Nina was excellent always putting our safety first and adapting the itinerary to suit weather. She was a great host with the two families in our group and went out her way to keep us informed and even take photos to share when we were out on the water.
Transport arrangements were spot on - always there waiting at airport or ferry! Slight confusion that it wasn’t a TourDust sign but that was quickly solved.
Kayaking was a great adventure and a challenge some days but worth it for the stops on other islands and opportunities to swim, dive and explore caves. I suspect it could be a long day if your child is too young or not such a ‘water baby’ as once your in the kayak your in it! It is also a hefty bit of exercise on a two person kayak if the child in front isn’t up for paddling! I was fine except on one or two occasions where it was a bit of a struggle and I had to persuade him to do some more paddling for me.
Finally, your service has been great since we got in touch especially as it was a last minute decision for us to go. The speed in responding to queries on a personal basis and quickly was really great (very unusual these days!)
All in all a great holiday - my 11 year old had a great adventure he will talk about for years! So will I....

  • We had a fabulous holiday thank you! Everything went very smoothly - accommodation was good, breakfast fantastic! The kayaking was great - really well thought out schedule with plenty of rests and time to relax. Lovely meals out.

Just wanted to add that our guide Nina was excellent. She worked really hard to ensure the whole trip went smoothly and that we were all happy with the pace, including giving the boys plenty of opportunities for jumping in off the cliffs!!

All in all a great trip! And all the admin side of things has been very efficient throughout.

    Thank you so much!!

  • On our final night now in Dubrovnik sadly.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first half Tourdust arranged with all the kayaking etc. our son was very sad to leave and preferred the earlier part of our trip to the second half chilling by the pool!

Accommodation was 'ok', activities were just enough, some people couldn't keep up with the amount of kayaking but for us it was just the right amount. Johnny and Mattie were superb, they went out of their way to ensure everyone was happy all the time (I hope Tourdust look after them as they are a great asset to the company!!).

They took us to some great restaurants, arranged all the transport and ensured everyone was safe during the activities.

5 out of 5 to you guys, we hope to be back!!
