Tucked away in a secluded bay along Phu Quoc’s west coast is Chen Sea Resort & Spa. This luxurious property offers plenty of peace and tranquility, not to mention captivating views of the Gulf of Thailand and the rich rainforest vegetation that surrounds much of the resort. The property boasts a high standard of accommodation, a private beachside location and lovely tropical gardens. It can be considered in many ways a genuine hidden gem, but it's still fairly close to many of the island’s most worthwhile sights and attractions; the island’s largest town, the lively Duong Dong, is just 25 minutes away.
There are a total of 36 air conditioned villas. All of them feature minimalist decor with subtle Vietnamese-style touches throughout; they have open plan designs and offer plenty of space and amenities. Each villa comes with tea and coffee making facilities, an open air bathroom, an LCD TV with satellite channels and DVD player, and a range of complimentary toiletries.
Il Ristorante is the resort’s main restaurant and is bright, light and contemporary. It serves hearty buffet-style breakfasts every morning, along with Italian, Vietnamese and international dishes for lunch and dinner. Private beachside dining and in-room dining can be arranged on request. The GHE Bar is located on the beach and offers a wide range of cocktails and mocktails, as well as plenty of light bites and comfort foods.
There are plenty of activities in and around the resort. There's a private white sand beach to make use of, and a lovely infinity pool situated right by the beach with stunning ocean views. Numerous spa treatments are available and these take place in pavilions overlooking the ocean; there are also regular yoga classes. There's an on site sports centre and the resort offers complimentary equipment for a broad range of activities such as kayaking, tennis, windsurfing and beach volleyball; there’s also an open air fitness centre. Scuba diving or snorkelling expeditions to explore the ocean’s abundant marine life can be arranged.
The resort welcomes children and encourages families to stay. Those travelling with children are advised to book the Two Bedrooms Pool Villa, which accommodates up to four people, or two Sea View Villas, all of which are interconnected. Parents are reminded that children must remain under adult supervision at all times.
Thank you yet again for another meticulously organised and executed holiday (our 5th with you). Every aspect worked perfectly.
Please could you pass on our sincere thanks to your agent in Sri Lanka; Lakshita, our driver and guide, absolutely made the trip for us - he was so keen for us to have the best experience possible. He was organised, kind, interested, punctual, the car was always spotless, and he was an excellent driver. His extensive knowledge was really appreciated by us and was exactly what we had hoped for in a guide. I think the highlight for us was our day in Anuradhapura (7 hours of absorbing history and culture), but there was so much to learn and absorb every day. He also made several suggestions for things that he thought we might like that weren't in our itinerary, and then booked them for us. These included an ayurvedic massage after climbing Sigiriya, a cultural show (an hour of touristy fun!), reef snorkelling with turtles (a real highlight for me - I wish we could have stayed all day), a lagoon boat trip and visit to a cinnamon island, a turtle sanctuary visit, and a gemstone factory visit. He also managed to get us a private tour of Lunanguga, which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. We also really enjoyed the tea factory tour.
Our guide for the hike was also really excellent, and he and Lakshita made sure that our day was perfectly tailored to our (my) ability.
All our accommodation was also perfectly selected. Our favourite was the Ceylon tea trails bungalow (just perfect!), but The Villa Bentota came a close second as a perfect way to relax at the end of the trip. Our villa and the grounds at Uga at Ulagalla were also beautiful.
(Our only slightly disappointing day was the whale watching - no whales wanted to be seen on that particular day, plus I was very sea-sick despite taking meds! The tour organisers offered us a repeat day the following day, which we declined! Having said that, being out on the water was still enjoyable, up to a point...).
I'm sure I've missed out something - we basically loved it all and felt that the balance of the itinerary was perfect for us (we used the 'rest' day in Galle to do the snorkelling, lagoon, and turtles)
Thank you very, very much.

We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
