Overview

This upmarket boutique resort provides a restful, idyllic sanctuary in a beachside location on the west coast of Phu Quoc. It’s decidedly laidback in character and is designed to be a 'home away from home' for visiting guests. Originally the property was the holiday home of a spice trader and his family, and although it's grown and evolved considerably over the years, it continues to acknowledge and appreciate its roots.

The Modern Wing was constructed in 2016 and offers a range of stylish, contemporary rooms. The Heritage Wing, on the other hand, dates back to the late 1990s and offers more traditional decor and design features. Rooms in both wings are well presented and well furnished throughout, with plenty of space and amenities on offer. Rooms come with air conditioning and a ceiling fan, as well as a canopy-style bed with mosquito netting, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary water. Note that none of the rooms have a television.

The Spice House is the resort’s restaurant and is open daily for three meals. Breakfast is served buffet-style, while the lunch and dinner menus feature an eclectic mix of Vietnamese and Mediterranean dishes. Out on the beach there’s The Malabar, a relaxed and informal beach bar serving an array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as light bites.

Straddling the main public beach is a private stretch of sand reserved just for resort guests. There are three swimming pools available: one for adults, one for children and an infinity pool designed for everyone to use. Cookery classes are recommended for those looking to learn about the local cuisine and excursions around Phu Quoc can be arranged, including trips to nearby fishing villages, visits to local temples and pagodas, diving expeditions and day trips to the island’s national park. This expansive, protected area is home to diverse wildlife and is a good place for hiking and cycling.

Children are welcome and while there's no dedicated kids club, youngsters will no doubt enjoy playing on the beach and in the designated children's swimming pool. Parents are reminded to keep an eye on their children all the time.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely amazing holiday. Everything went exactly to plan and we were blown away with the quality of the guides, transport and accommodation. The itinerary was perfect for our family with a great mix of guided and free days and the different destinations complemented each other well. We will definitely be using Tourdust again for our next trip! Particular highlights were the Ha Long Bay cruise, Hanoi, and the morning cycle tour in Siam Reap
