  • Explore the medina & hone your bartering skills in Marrakech's souks
  • See snake charmers, acrobats & story tellers in the famous Djemma el Fna
  • Stay in a traditional riad & then lie back & relax in a boutique resort
  • Enjoy a walk & a Berber picnic in the spectacular Atlas Mountains
Just 4 hours by plane form the UK, Morocco is a fantastic destination all year round, with an enchanting culture, spectacular scenery and a wonderful climate. Marrakech is an exotic walled city, with a labyrinthine network of markets and streets wending their way towards the main, central square and the most famous of Marrakech's attractions; the Djemma el Fna. By day, this is a busy town square, but at night it comes alive with musicians, story tellers, snake charmers, hawkers and henna artists all vying for your attention. Add to that the lively food markets and you have an unforgettable, and at times over-whelming, atmosphere. Away from the square, there is plenty to explore, with cultural highlights as well as the shopping in the souks. For some peace and quiet, we highly recommend an excursion to the colourful Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent.

Most people find that after a few nights in Marrakech, they are ready to escape the hustle and bustle for something calmer. The Palmery, located just outside of Marrakech, is the perfect solution. With spacious boutique hotels and a large water park for those wanting to cool off, it is the perfect place to sit back, swim and enjoy the sunshine. Our favourite hotel is the Beldi Country Club which offers sophistication, but is also child friendly. Set in extensive gardens, there are three pools (one heated for winter visitors) a tennis court and pottery classes for children, as well as that all important spa.

No trip to Marrakech is complete without a visit to the stunning Atlas Mountains. You will be left to your own devices in the palmery for the entirety of your stay with the exception of one day when we will whisk you up to the pretty mountain village of Imlil. From here and depending on your fitness levels, we will take you for a guided walk, providing an extra mule and riding hat for the children. Along the way, we will serve you a delicious Berber picnic.

You will be met at Marrakech Airport and transferred to your riad in the medina of Marrakech. Once you have settled into your riad, we suggest you set off and explore Marrakech's medina. In the evening, be sure to head down to the main square here food stalls, acrobats, snake charmers and story tellers congregate creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

Today we recommend seeing some of the main cultural sights of Marrakech, including the Medersa Ben Youssef, Palais el Badi and the Bahia Palace, interspersed with a leisurely lunch watching the storks nesting on the ramparts of the ancient city or perhaps some people watching at a cafe in the Spice market. In the evening, you might want to enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants over-looking the main square, or perhaps ask your host to book you a table at the atmospheric Foundouk restaurant, serving up delicious French & Moroccan fusion food.

Today you might want to catch a petit taxi out to the Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens are beautifully laid out and offer a welcome respite to the chaos of the medina. (There is also a lovely cafe there) In the afternoon, you might want to take it easy and see the ramparts from the comfort of a caleche (horse and cart.) In the evening, you might want to go back to the Djemaa el Fna, or perhaps head to the new town for some more Western cuisine.

It is a short transfer out of the City to the calm of the Marrakech Palmeraie where you will be staying at a luxury garden hotel with fantastic facilities - the perfect location to sit back and relax. Beldi has multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, pottery classes and of course a superb spa for grown-ups.

Accommodation: Beldi Country Club

You will be met at you hotel and transferred out to the High Atlas Mountains for a private guided tour. After speaking with you he will suggest a walking route, based on your requirements and fitness levels. This can vary from a nice and gentle through the traditional villages, to a more challenging walk up to a pass for stunning views. We lay on a cook so you can have a lovely traditional cooked Berber picnic lunch on the trail and of course an extra mule which children can ride if they don't fancy walking. Return to the Marrakech Palmeraie in the early evening.

When is best?

This trip is best in spring, autumn and winter. In the winter months in Marrakech, you can expect warm sunny days, but cooler evenings (you'll need a jumper). Spring and autumn are perfect with temperatures around 20 to 30 degrees Celsius and (usually) lots of sunshine.

Summer time temperatures in Marrakech can reach the mid 40's. The riad style accommodation is well set up to deal with the heat (with cool central courtyards and plenty of shade) but is probably only advisable to those who don't mind the heat. At this time of year, we only usually recommend riads that are equipped with a plunge pool or swimming pool of some sort (few riads have decent sized pools because of their architecture).

  • The highlights for us were the accommodation choices - we loved each place we stayed and for quite different reasons.

We found the food really delicious at all the places. We were really impressed. We ended up eating dinner every night at Dar Housnia, which was really tasty but a bit expensive but we loved the convenience of it and loved everything else about the place.

My 9yr’s favourite place was Douar Samra - he liked the rooms and all the meals. We all like the communal meals there. It was good to get to know other travellers. But my husband and I really loved the Douria Suite at Dar Housnia as it was great to the have space and down time by ourselves there. We spent some hours just lazing on the terrace after walking around Marrakech for hours.

We also thought Kasbah Ellouze was really lovely too. They were super helpful accommodating the kids. They made sure we could celebrate NYE dinner with the kids as they go to bed early. It was really kind of them.

We had a Hussain as our guide for trekking and he went with us on the road trip. We really liked him: friendly & kind, and not too loud & talkative (our family is on the quiet side!). Hussain was great with our two boys. He made them feel comfortable, kept them safe on the treks (ie speed walking ahead with them when they wanted (our 4yr old loved this!) and holding them securely on mules over the rough terrain) and he played football with them too!
We had two different drivers who were both good - helped out when our 9yr old vomited from car sickness and were happy to drive slowly as needed.

Also we thought your organisation of everything and choice of accommodation & guides was excellent. We had no complaints. We had a splendid, relaxed and easy holiday - we didn’t have to think of anything & it was all great.

  • We had a brilliant holiday in Morocco courtesy of Tourdust this Summer (2015). Despite any anticipated difficulties of travelling to a country with a different culture and language we found everyone involved with our trip really friendly and helpful. The accommodation in all three areas was delightful, all in different ways, the food delicious and all the transfers involved worked very smoothly which really took the stress out of things. Trekking in the extreme heat of August requires a level of fitness which I personally found a struggle, but the guide made it possible to go at a speed that was comfortable. My two teenage sons really enjoyed the trip as well. Tourdust were really helpful before travelling in helping with any last minute issues. I would really recommend this trip.

  • The whole experience was truly fascinating and was really well organised from start to finish. We came away feeling that we had experienced the real Morocco. The accommodation and food was excellent throughout and we particularly liked Kasbah de Cigogne and the incredibly friendly staff, especially Ali! The mountain trek was invigorating and proved a highlight of the holiday - even the cold overnight stay in a mountain gite!. Credit to the guides and excellent cook plus of course the ever patient mules! We couldn't believe the quality(and quantity) of delicious hot food prepared half way up a mountain for us!
Oh and Marrakesh - well it needs no introduction but if you need to get away from the Souks for a while, a day at the Beldi Club comes highly recommended!
We'll be back to conquer Toubkal one day!
