Soria is situated just north east of Madrid in Rural Spain, but it couldn't be more different from the busy capital. It is the least inhabited province in the country crammed full with nature reserves, woodlands, Moorish architecture, Roman ruins, cave paintings and locally made food and pastries. You'll enjoy a living history lesson with rock art dating back to 3000-2000 BC, 12th Century frescos and churches built in the 1400s. Soria is the best place to really experience rural Spain and see a way of life that has gone mostly unchanged for a very long time. You'll walk past a lake that was formed in the Ice Age, through healthy forests of Pine trees teeming with deer and boar, stay in enchanting mountain villages built in the 16th century, follow the route of the Spanish hero, El Cid, and even visit a Celt Iberian settlement, a source of Spanish pride as this community kept out the mighty Roman army on more than one occasion. Along with all this history you'll meet friendly locals and be able to sample their wares from artisanal crafts to mouth-watering local fare. No wonder the tour operators settled in Soria after discovering it!

As you can see by the itinerary below, this holiday is jam-packed with culture and nature so to really enjoy it, you need to be willing to do more than just sit by the pool on your holiday! Having said that, the walking is classified as easy, with only a couple of hours a day, so is suitable for most people, just make sure you have proper footwear.

They will accompany the group throughout the trip and will arrange most of the food for you. Getting there

Soria is located about two and a half hours by car from Madrid and if you fly into Madrid you can get to Soria by train, hired car or privately driven car. There are also a few smaller airports close by such as Zaragoza and Pamplona.

Six nights accommodation, six breakfasts, maps, information packs, list of restaurants. Transfers and baggage transfers between the hotels is not included, so you will need to factor car hire into your price as well.
