Tours from Marrakech, trekking in morocco

Get out of the city and into the country on these small but perfectly formed two-day hiking tours from Marrakech. You’ll hike along winding mule tracks, cross high passes and see traditional Berber villages in the Imlil and Imnane valleys.

Marrakech. Bustling souks, labyrinthine bazaars and stalls bowing under the weight of rainbow-coloured spice pyramids. There are few more exotic places you can be in just three hours from London. But cities rarely offer breathing space and that’s where this tour steps in. Just outside the city lies the Atlas Mountain range. It stretches across Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia for about 1500 miles and the patch just outside Marrakech is great for exploring on foot.

With mules to carry your bags, you’re left free to concentrate on the scenery – and it’s a good job too, as there are some breathtakingly pretty sights. On this two-day tour you’ll hike up to the Tizi n’Tamaterte pass which stands at 2279 metres above sea level. From here, you can gaze across the Atlas Mountain peaks and take in the awesome Jbel Oukaimeden. On your second day you’ll wander through Berber villages and up to the Tizi n’Ageursiwal pass before making your way back down along meandering hillside tracks.

If you’re the sort of person who likes to spend as little time as possible in tourist hotspots then this is the tour for you. You’ll be whisked off out of busy Marrakech on a two-day trip through the countryside. You’ll stay overnight in a village gîte, picnic in idyllic settings, and have all your meals prepared for you by a cook. And you don’t need to worry about lugging your bags around either – they’ll be carried for you by mules. Go as a couple, in a group of friends or as a family – the more people who are in your group, the cheaper the price you’ll pay.
