Walk the Dingle Way

Walk the Dingle Way - main

This self-guided walking holiday along the Dingle Way lets you take things at your own pace. All of the logistics are taken care of; leaving you to spend your days in the countryside. And you can forget lugging heavy rucksacks about - they’ll be waiting for you at your next B&B.

Ireland. The word alone conjures up images of rich green landscapes, myth, legend and folklore and ancient historic sites. And this part of Ireland is no different. The Dingle Peninsula has been hailed as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’ by the National Geographic magazine, and with the warm Irish welcome still holding true, it’s an easy place to fall in love with. Céad míle fáilte – a hundred thousand welcomes.

There’s great walking to be had all over Ireland, but the Dingle Way offers some of the most diverse scenery. Walk along the foothills of Slieve Mish, amble past stretches of golden sands on the Maharess, and roam through fields and meadows that from above look like they’ve been stitched to the land like a patchwork quilt. Then there’s man’s influence – and there’s plenty to be seen in these parts. Standing stones, Celtic and Bronze age settlement ruins, and plenty of little villages and a few towns are all dotted along the route. Then, in the evening, there’s the Irish craic to be found – hunt down a pub and enjoy traditional Irish music and a sip of the local tipple.

This one’s great if you’re more of a solo explorer, as you won’t be spending any time travelling in groups. How much walking you do on this holiday is down to you because you’re under no pressure to sweat it out just to keep up with a timetable. Maybe you fancy spending quality time with a friend you haven’t seen in ages, or you’re after an active break with a partner – the beauty of this tour is it doesn’t matter. You’re your own task master – walk as fast or as slow as you like and go it alone or with friends.
